Hi I'm Sarah

I'm a fashion and exercise loving granola from Colorado. I also love math and enjoy tutoring. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I just graduated college with a bachelors in Mathematics, I know crazy right? I have both parents still, along with my older sister and younger brother -- yes I am in the middle and yes I do have the middle child syndrome. I love hiking whether it be in a nature park or the mountains. I LOVE SEWING and fashion (huge fan of project runway) I sew a lot of my own skirts and dresses. I am also a fan of reading, mainly science fiction. (What can I say? I was raised on Star Trek and Twilight Zone) Some of my favourite books include Enders Game, The Giver, The Phantom Tollbooth, The Count of Monte Cristo, and The Secret Garden.

Why I am a Mormon

I am one of those people who loves to learn and it's no different with religion. I took a class on world religions where we explored religions originating in the east like Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, and Sikhism. Through this process of finding out the beliefs and culture of others I was able to better realize why I continue to choose The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. In no other religion is there promise of eternal families. In my years as a Mormon the questions of "where did I come from?" "why am I here?" and "where and I going" have always been answered for me, as I took my own path and questioned if what I'd been taught was true I can now testify that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints restored through the prophet Joseph Smith is Christ's true church. If for no other reason than that of His plan of eternal families. I hold that promise above almost all others; I could not achieve true and incandescent happiness without the promise of having my family connected to me. Because of this promise I know that Heavenly Father and Christ love and cherish each of their children's soul and happiness to such and extent that Heavenly Father was willing to allow His first and only begotten son to be persecuted, hated, bullied, and killed to provide the way for the rest of His imperfect children to come home. There isn't a day that goes by that I am not grateful for that sacrifice. I also know that the Book of Mormon is what it says it is, another testament of Christ and reading its contents will only bring us closer to Christ and understanding his gospel and character.

How I live my faith

In Colorado we recently had some pretty wide spread fire damage and along with many other in the community, I was able to volunteer collecting food with Care and Share and fill sandbags to help those whose houses and livelihoods were destroyed. I guess working in retail has given me the talent of starting conversations with just about anybody, it's still a little out of my comfort zone but I do enjoy meeting new people and finding kindred spirits where I can. I also taught a class of 5 year olds for a couple months which was interesting. I was forced to think of the gospel of Christ in it's most fundamental form and I learned that even when just scraping the topmost layer of His parables and teachings you can feel the truth. (Plus my inherent fear of children went from a 10 to like a 7)

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Sarah
Of course there is!! Why wouldn't there be? As I see it Prophets in The Bible were God's communication to His people and His way to warn them of things to come and keep them on track. Even though the words written from the Old and New Testament are valuable and should be studied and embodied, the problems and temptations of today were not even imagined back then. So it makes sense that our loving Unchanging Heavenly Father would, as he has always done, provide us with a living prophet to guide, warn, and teach us in our time specific to our ever growing and changing oppositions and temptations. I know that Thomas S. Monson is the Lord's prophet today, I can feel it when he talks. Show more Show less
