Hi I'm John Shin

I was Born and Raised in Virginia, I went to BYU Hawaii, I Love to Surf and Skate and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in the Beautiful State of Virginia on May 3,1994. I love the outdoors and I love to try new things. I went to BYU Hawaii for a semester of college and fell in love with Surfing and Skateboarding. I decided to put my college career on hold to serve a mission. I knew I wanted to go on a mission after praying sincerely with the Lord about it. I am currently serving in Phoenix, AZ for two years. I'll be serving from March 2013-2015. I love to serve people and help them come closer to God and Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

Although there are many reasons why I'm a Mormon, it comes down to knowing that it is the truth. It simply states in The Book of Mormon, "We invite all men everywhere to read the Book of Mormon, to ponder in their hearts the message it contains, and then to ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ if the book is true. Those who pursue this course and ask in faith will gain a testimony of its truth and divinity by the power of the Holy Ghost. (See Moroni 10:3–5.) Those who gain this divine witness from the Holy Spirit will also come to know by the same power that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world, that Joseph Smith is His revelator and prophet in these last days, and that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Lord’s kingdom once again established on the earth, preparatory to the Second Coming of the Messiah." I have read, pondered and prayed about The Book of Mormon. I know that it is the Word of God and that it is true. I know that Jesus Christ died for me and made it possible for me to return to live with God again someday. I know that Joseph Smith is a prophet and that the Church that was setup by him was divinely inspired by God to be his one and only true church on the earth today. I'm a Mormon because I know it is true, I love living the lifestyle and commandments God has given us and I feel peace, love and joy in my life.

How I live my faith

I increase and live my faith by following the commandments. Some of these things include reading the scriptures daily, praying to my Heavenly Father and going to Church weekly to partake of the Sacrament and worship God. On top of these things, I try to be more like my Savior, Jesus Christ by helping others in my community and sharing the gospel. I want to be a positive force for good in the world and try to be an example to others.

In whom should we have faith?

John Shin
We should have complete and total faith in our loving Heavenly Father and in his son, Jesus Christ. We believe and trust in him. Faith requires us to act. It means that we are willing to do the things that our Heavenly Father would ask us to do. It means to be obedient to him. Show more Show less
