Hi I'm Audrey Buckley

I'm from Washington. I'm a student at Brigham Young University. I'm serving a mission in the Philippines. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a sister of three wonderful brothers and a daughter of great parents. I'm studying Microbiology at Brigham Young University. I'm preparing for graduate studies in Public Health. I dream of someday traveling the world to help people to live healthier and happier lives. I play guitar, sing, and write songs for a band. I love music and being able to share my music with others. I enjoy hiking, longboarding, painting, dancing like a fool, and being active.

Why I am a Mormon

Ever since my youth, I was taught the principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I have always felt the truth of it. I'm a Mormon because I have felt an undeniable witness that it is the true church. I do my best to follow the commandments and do what is right because I have seen and felt how much better my life is when I do so. There is peace and there is light in my life when I live it.

How I live my faith

I'm very involved in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I'm currently serving as a missionary for the church in the Philippines. I've been able to study Tagalog in preparation to serving and I'm so excited to be able to teach the lovely people of the Philippines about the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. Previous to my mission, I served as a leader in our Sunday activities. I organized "Break the Fast" meals once every month to conclude our fasting as a ward family. I also organized weekly activities that provide opportunities for the ward to get together, share talents, and build one another. I love serving in the church! Every calling has provided me an opportunity to get to know and love so many wonderful people.

Mormons believe Jesus Christ is their Savior. Why do we need a Savior?

Audrey Buckley
We all mess up. We all make mistakes. We all sin. Our Heavenly Father has a plan, which we call the "Plan of Salvation" in which we can all return to live with Him again. Without a savior, we would never be able to live with Heavenly Father again because we can't live with Him when we are unclean. Jesus Christ provided us with an atonement. He payed the price for our sins and suffered so that we don't have to. We can accept Jesus Christ's atonement, become clean through it, and eventually return to live with God again. In whom should we have faith?

Audrey Buckley
We should have faith in Jesus Christ. He should be our rock and our foundation. No one else can provide the sure foundation that Christ can. If we put our faith in Him, we cannot fall. Show more Show less

What is the purpose of the welfare services of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

Audrey Buckley
The purpose is to help people become self-reliant. The church does a great job helping people become more capable taking care of themselves and others. My father was unemployed for a time when I was in high school and the church welfare program helped us during that time. We never went hungry and always had our needs met! And after about a year, my dad was able to find a job through the help of the church members. Show more Show less
