Hi I'm Melanie

I'm Scottish. I'm a wife. I love my life. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the north east of Scotland, and loved growing up there. I am the youngest of 6 children in my family and had a fun childhood with them. Because of the experiences I had as a child growing up in a beautiful part of the world and with other places I've been, I have an appreciation of the wonderful world which we live in. I love being out in it and discovering new and enchanting places. I now live in Lancashire where I moved when I was 18 to live with my sister and it is here I met my husband. We continue to have adventures together and get the most out of wherever we are. I love to travel anywhere and everywhere and make memories along the way. I love taking photographs to capture special moments and love to look back on what I see as photo journals of great times. I enjoy the simple things in life, a nice walk, a good movie and laughing with friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I have attended church since I was a child, being taken by my mum and dad. I grew up in the church and was taught wonderful principles which still help me today. The reason I still go to church is because there was a time in my life when there was a change from me going because it was what my parents did, to going because I know God is real and I know my life is better with Him in it. When I was a teenager, my dad died after battling with cancer. During this, the hardest time of my life I know God helped me, I felt his comfort and His assurance that things were going to be ok. This is when I really grew in my relationship with Him. By leaning on Him to help me, He answers my prayers and has blessed me with great happiness again. I know this church is true with all of my heart because I prayed and asked God. I felt within my heart and every part of me that this is His church. I have really come to know that the Book of Mormon does answer all of my life's questions. The gospel makes sense. It makes sense to me that God put us in families and it makes sense that after we die, we are still with our families. It makes sense to me that we strive to live our lives in a way which protect us from the pains of sin, and that we try be the best we can to help each other on our path back to God. I have come to know that we can live with never ending happiness after we leave this earth and I want to do all it takes to achieve that for me and my family.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to improve and come closer in my relationship with God. I go to church every Sunday to learn about Him and to grow in my faith. At church I teach a youth class of teenagers aged 12-18. We talk about different aspects of the gospel and learn from one another as we read our scriptures together to find answers. It strengthens my faith when I see these kids find an answer to a question they have or share with me their beliefs and thoughts of the Saviour. I turn to God through prayer and studying my scriptures and I am never let down as I feel strengthen by doing this. I live my faith also by keeping Gods commandments and try to be an example. I have been blessed with opportunities to share what I know about the church and this helps my faith grow as I realise more and more that we are all children of God, just trying our best to get through and enjoy this life.
