Hi I'm Alexis

I grew up in Edinburgh. I currently live in London. I have an MA in fashion ladies wear design. . I'm a mormon.

About Me

I grew up the eldest of 11 children in Edinburgh. As a young child I participated in many activites such as dancing, swimming, synchronised swimming & piano playing. Around the age of 15 I decided that I wanted to become a costume designer. So through the support of my loving parents I embarked on taking evening art classes and private drawing lesson. I secured a place at Edinburgh college of art where I decided that I wanted to study fashion design and was accepted on tot he course. At the completion of my Ba I moved to London as I was accepted on to the persegious Central Saint Martins ladies wear MA course where my graduating collection was shown with CMS at London fashion week. After a few years trying to work freelance and start own label I decided to. Go down a different route. I currently work for H&M where I am soon to be part of the global styling team based in Stockholm and hopefully one day part of the design team. I am married to a Swedish man who can't wait to return to Sweden and we are excited about our fourth coming adventure together.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a member if the church of Jesus Christ of latter days saints. Being a member always made complete sense to me. It made complete sense that I had a loving Heavenly Father who I was built in the image of. It made sense that as I learnt of the saviour Jesus Christ that a loving father in heaven would send him to atone for our sins so that we might be able to return to him. As I searched the scriptures and asked questions through daily prayer It only re-confirmed what I already new to be true. The gospel brings me happiness. It helps me to know who I am, who I want to be and what my true potential is. It brings me peace in a sometimes turmoil world. It brings me direction and focus. I was Married to a member of the church and sealed in the temple. This means that will will be together for ever not until 'death do us part'. This gives us a command goal in our marriage, that we continually strive to be deserving of that promise and most of all that we will continue to be the person or the people that we want to be with for eternity. Growing up though I was different from my peers with different standards and guidelines to follow I never felt different because I knew what god expected of me and that was more important. I was accepted for who I was and who I was, was a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. As we live our religion daily I feel it is difficult to separate yourself from your religion and that we are indeed one. Being a mormon is part of who I am. It is what I stand for and it is what shapes my decisions and my choices. I can't not imagine not being a member of this church. It brings me happiness and joy because I know who I a and what I stand for. I know that this church is the true church as I have asked my father in heaven and he has confirmed to me through the Holy Spirit and everyone can find or this truth for themselves by simply kneeling in prayer and asking.

How I live my faith

I currently serve in the London Hyde park stake as part of the stake young woman's programme. I am the second councillor in this programme serving along side the president, the first councillor and the secretary. Together we serve the wards and the leaders of the young woman's programme who volunteer to teach and hold activities for all girls aged between 12-18. We organise monthly activities for all the young men & woman In Our stake so that they might have an opportunity to come together and be amongst youth who hold the same values as they do. My role is to help support these volunteers in coming up with ways to motivate the youth of our church. It is similar to a weekly youth club run by men and women who volunteer. I love serving the young people in our church. It is a joy to works the girls and their leaders and to help the, know that they are important and loved.
