Hi I'm Tanner

I grew up in a farming community in rural Colorado. I love to hunt and fish. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Idaho. In addition to there, I have lived in Wisconsin and in a rural farming community in Colorado. Farming and Ranching have been a great influence on me and my character. I love the appreciation of God's creations that is gained through agriculture, as well as the work ethic I have developed as a result of chores and other work that I've completed. Other than farming and working with animals, my hobbies include rifle- and shotgun-shooting, fishing, and all types of hunting. I also enjoy playing sports- mostly football and basketball. I have always done pretty well in school, and I love to read. My favorite subject is History, but I like to learn about most everything. I recently concluded my first year of college at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. It was kind of scary going from my small-town lifestyle to a huge college like BYU (there were classes that were bigger than my whole high school!), but it was worth it, and I loved every second of my college experience. I guess my grandfather was right when he said, "Everything good in this life comes with at least a little change attached to it."

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon (a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) because I know, firmly, totally, for myself, and without doubt, that this church is true. It's teachings are God's teachings. It is the Restored Church of God on Earth. God lives, and He loves all of us so much that he sent His Son to die for our sins so that we could return to live with Him again. I have felt this love throughout my life, powerfully and often. Before Christ's mortal life, prophets like Moses and Elijah were called to lead God's people. When Jesus Christ walked among men, He called apostles to minister to His people. I testify that a Prophet is again present on the Earth. Together with 12 modern-day apostles, he leads God's church, and advances God's work on Earth. He is God's mouthpiece, and I know that what he speaks are the true words of God. I know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ personally appeared to a 14-year-old boy named Joseph Smith, who had the faith to utter a simple prayer asking for truth. In answer to that prayer, God restored His Church on the Earth through Joseph Smith and other Prophets. Part of this Restoration of Truth was the Book of Mormon, a record of God's dealings with an ancient civilization and another Testament of Jesus Christ. I know personally and can testify of the truthfulness of this book. I know all these things, not just because my parents or other church members have told me it's true, but for myself. I have prayed, and my Heavenly Father has answered me. Through the Holy Ghost, he has given me a strong and sure knowledge that these things are true. I was blessed to be born into the Church, but I still had to make the choice whether or not to continue to follow His Gospel. My choice has been made. I stand by this church and its teachings because I know for myself that they are true. I cannot and will not deny it.

How I live my faith

I live my Faith every day by trying to be my best self, and trying to live as Jesus Christ would. His life was spent helping and blessing others, and I try to do that in my life, too. I am grateful for the many opportunities I have been given by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to help and bless the lives of others. Since I was a little child, I have been encouraged by loving parents and leaders to be kind to others and to help them out whenever I could, whether it was just holding the door for an elderly lady or passing out clean water after a contaminant leaked into the city's water supply. I have served in many callings that have put me in a position to help others. Since I was about 12, I have served as a Home Teacher. (Someone who teaches, helps, and watches over several families in his area) This has given me a chance to be involved in and help with the lives of many people, and I have really enjoyed the chance to get to know and bless them. I hold the office of Elder in the Priesthood, which is an honor and a great responsibility. Put simply, the Priesthood is the Power that God has given to Man to act in His name. Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints use this power as God would- to help our brothers and sisters all over the world. I have been privileged to use the Priesthood to give blessings of healing and comfort to the people I home teach, as well as many others. It brings me great happiness and joy to be able to bless others using the Priesthood. I live my Faith daily by striving to remain worthy of the great blessings and responsibilities that come with it.
