Hi I'm Amanda

I'm a convert. I'm from Calgary. I live in China. I'm also a Mormon.

About Me

I'm twenty one years old. I grew up in Alberta, where I joined the church when I was eighteen. I love to travel, visit museums, take too many pictures, watch hockey and spend time with my friends. I have one younger sister and about a million things on my to-do list. During high school, I took a TEFL course and began my Teaching English as a Foreign Language in a small city near Beijing. Since then, I've embarked on the journey of studying Art History at Brigham Young University.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I absolutely love the clarity and purpose in life this gospel gives. As a convert, I have had the opportunity to learn about the potential that the Lord has for me. I have learned to set my standards high, and why, and have come to know that I will be blessed if I act in accordance with the will of God. The Book of Mormon is a great addition to the Bible when learning about Christ's teachings. It was through carefully reading this book that I came to recognize the truthfulness of the gospel and the divinity of the Book of Mormon. Once I accepted how clearly God had revealed to me that He leads this church, I was eager to be baptized and have not looked back. I am certain that by following the teachings taught in all scripture given by God, we will be greatly blessed.

How I live my faith

Living my faith can be a challenge in China, where there are restrictions to the amount of gospel-sharing I am allowed to do. Because of the small number of members here, I have to travel a few hours to get to church, and I think that this sets an example for those around me who do not know the gospel. I live my faith by keeping my standards in a country that does not understand them, by reaching out to those in need and by looking for opportunities to serve.
