Hi I'm Martha Ellsworth

I'm tall. I love sports and the outdoors. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a Latter-day Saint who grew up in Appleton, WI. My dad joined the church when he was 18 years old and served a mission in Belgium and France. My mom grew up in the church and also served a mission in Frankfurt, Germany. I have 3 brothers and 2 sisters. I came to BYU in Provo, UT for school, and I have graduated in dietetics. My goal is to become a registered dietitian and help those around me have better health through the proper nutrition for their body. I love food--learning about it, cooking it, and especially eating it! I also love anything outdoors and/or active. My favorite sport is volleyball, but I also enjoy swimming, racquetball, biking, and skiing. My favorite outdoor activities are bonfires and camping, boating, and hiking. I also love to travel and explore. I did a study abroad in France for 3 months and loved every moment of it. While I was there I traveled to many other places in Europe and can't wait until I can go back. There is so much to learn from other cultures. I love life, people, and learning and can't get enough of all three!

Why I am a Mormon

I love being a member of this church. I grew up a member, but have stayed active because I have seen the hand of the Lord in my life. He cares about my individual needs and carries through my struggles. He is my best friend. I turn to my Savior for everything. He is a wonderful listener and is willing and wanting to do everything He can to bring us as much happiness as possible. Trials do come, but my Heavenly Father is always there to help me through my struggles. I would not have the joy I have without the gospel in my life. He gives me the direction I need in my life. My favorite part about this gospel is to know that I can live with my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ again with my entire family. I love picturing the next life in heaven with my family and I sitting there and talking with Christ. At the same time though, I can do that now. I can pray to Him and He will answer. I can get to know Him and His life through reading the scriptures. Through the fullness of this gospel, I can get to know my Heavenly Father on a deeper and more personal level. Who wouldn't want a perfect best friend? Through this gospel, I literally have a perfect best friend, and that's my favorite thing in the world.

How I live my faith

I live my faith everyday as I interact with others around me. I love having friends who share my same beliefs and values. It's very common that I stay up late with a friend talking about gospel principles and how are Heavenly Father has blessed our lives. I love my ward and church. The people are so friendly and they all care about you. I love coming together with them and church and different activities that are planned. Some of my favorite memories come from activities we've done such as playing games or having a hug bonfire. I also will always remember the Sunday school lessons that have touched my life and changed it for the better. It brings me so much joy to learn of how much my Heavenly Father cares about me individually, and the great blessings He has in store for me. I've done a lot of different things to help out in church, but my favorite is when I'm asked to teach a lesson in Sunday school. While I'm preparing the lesson, I learn so much, but I learn even more while I'm teaching. The people I teach are teaching me. They have so many insights that I had never thought of before. Church is a little community of loving people where I get to gather with some of my closest friend and learn about our Savior.
