Hi I'm Whitney

"I love playing all types of sports indoor and out. I grew up in a small town in Utah. And I'm a Mormon!"

About Me

Currently I am preparing to serve a mission in St. Louis Missouri! But I have had 19 years leading up to this point that have been full of crazy fun! As number five of seven children I was never bored growing up. I lived in the small town of Salina, Utah until I left for college. In high school I enjoyed soccer, basketball, cross country, softball, and swimming. I loved academics and it helped me to receive a scholarship. So I just finished my second semester at a University!! I have the best friends in the entire world! First my family who puts up with all the time. Then my non-blood family (aka best friends). I met this group at college and they have changed my life for the better! I could not have been more blessed in my life! In my spare time I love eating pina-colada starbursts and watching thunderstorms. If someone suggests a really good book I can usually find time to read it. I love creating projects and pinterest has become my best friend, and time consumer. I work at a call center, not the best job but it has a lot of free time. Soon though I will be serving my Heavenly Father and that will be my job for eighteen months!! I am so excited to be serving at the same time as about 15 of my closest friends. Everyday is spent preparing me to serve!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the covenant. Which means I was born to parents who where both members of the LDS religion and had been married for time and all eternity in the Temple. So I grew up going to church every Sunday and attending church activities throughout the week. As I child I knew that the gospel was perfect. As I grew older Satan became more prominent in my life. I was tempted so often and sometimes I let those temptations overcome me. But still I went to church and tried to be the best that I could be. I often found myself leaning on the testimonies of those around me because I wasn't quite sure what I believed just yet. Eventually I moved out of my parents home and away to college. This was scary mostly because I no longer had my parents knowledge of the gospel to lean on. I stumbled with boys and got myself into some questionable situations. The moment that I finally had a firm knowledge of the truth was when I was searching. It took a lot of scripture study and prayer to get to that point, but oh how it was so worth it. I have derived so many life lessons and know that in this moment I am the best I have ever been. I know that there is so much more room to grow though! The gospel has helped me find that true happiness and peace that only it can bring. Being able to have the Holy Ghost guide me every step of the way is so great. I know when I am doing good and not and I don't have to regret so many of my actions anymore. I have learned to love my family and friends with a capacity that only the gospel allows. I know that someday I will be able to marry a man and live with him not only in this life, but in heaven as well. This gospel is true and everlasting all it takes is a little faith!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being an example. I attend regular church meetings every Sunday and sometimes even twice a Sunday when I have multiple friends speaking. I recently just finished institute which was a religion class based on the LDS principles that was taught at my university. Currently the only calling I have is as a missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I am going to serve in St. Louis Missouri and I hope I can share the joy that I know the gospel brings.

What is being a Mormon like?

It is the hardest and the easiest thing I have ever done. I wake up everyday and first thing I do is hit my knees and pray. I ask for my Heavenly Father to guide and direct me throughout the day and provide me with his spirit. Scriptures provided me with a continous knowledge that has blessed my life. Despite my best efforts I still make mistakes. Satan still tempts me and once in a while I fall. But I know that throught the redeeming power of the atonement I can be made clean. This knowledge has brought me so much joy and happiness. I know my purpose here on earth and where I am going when my purpose is done. Peace has been brought to my soul. I am happy beyond words.
