Hi I'm Jacob

I'm a Builder, I love fishing offshore, getting laughs from the kids and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I grew up in Raleigh, NC. My parents were hippies living in a cinderblock house when some LDS missionaries came knocking on their door. They asked them to read the Book of Mormon and pray to know if it was from God. They did and received an answer that it was true and joined the church. Because the church places such emphasis on families, my parents decided to have a couple more kids which included me. I will always be grateful and indebted to them for their decision to join the church. I had a fun and exciting childhood and spent a lot of time on the lake skiing, kneeboarding and eventually wake boarding. I played the drums in the high school band. I enjoy playing sports, restoring antiques, surprising my wife and kids, high adventure activities and fishing at the beach. I married my childhood sweetheart and we have 4 crazy kids that are the world to me.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up Mormon and had a great group of friends in the church. I learned of the restored gospel as a youth and had a lot of fun in the youth program. It wasn't until serving a full time mission for The Lord that I came to deeply know of the redeeming power that comes from believing in Jesus Christ. I know that when we sacrifice things, be our time, talents or possessions, for the Savior and His kingdom, that He will bless us spiritually and temporally. My conviction grows as I strive to live a good life and follow the promptings of the spirit.

How I live my faith

I currently serve as a counselor to the bishop, which allows me to serve with the youth of the church. I am constantly amazed at how spiritually strong the youth are today. My occupation gives me many opportunities to talk about the gospel with others and I love it! I am grateful for the guidance from God through His prophets both before Christ and after that gives me ideas on how to be a good husband and father.
