Hi I'm Sarah

I am from Southern California. I enjoy many things including science, ceramics, and music, and I love the outdoors. I'm a Mormon

About Me

Hi! I am a college student, and am interested in science and genetics. In addition to my love of science, I also have interests in many other areas including music and art. I took several ceramics classes in high school and plan on taking a ceramics class at my college. I also like singing. Although the only official choir "class" I had was in junior high, I enjoy singing at church in the choir. I also play the piano. Another interesting thing about me is that I am a twin! My identical twin sister and I are best friends. When I am not away from home I love spending time with my family, whether it is going to the beach or driving somewhere, or just hanging out together playing games and taking walks.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that this is truly Christ's church and is the best way to live my life. I grew up in a good Latter-Day Saint family. My father also grew up in the church, and my mother joined at age 18. I am not a Mormon just because that's what I grew up with though. I have prayed and received a confirmation from God for myself that this church is true. As I apply the teachings in my life, it makes me happy and continues to confirm to me the truth of this. I would not give up my membership in the church for anything in the world. It has blessed my life and the life of my family so much and I am so grateful for the knowledge I have. I am grateful that I can live with God and my family forever. Recently my grandmother passed away. I miss her but I know without a doubt that I really will see her again. In the Book of Mormon, Mosiah 16:8 reads "But there is a resurrection, therefore the grave hath no victory, and the sting of death is swallowed up in Christ." I know through my experience that this is true. I know without a doubt that Christ suffered and died so that we can be forgiven of our sins and live again someday. I know that the church of Christ was restored through the prophet Joseph Smith and that we have a living prophet on the earth today leading this church. I know this church is true with all of my heart, and am thankful for the many blessings I receive in my life because of it.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying my best to strengthen my relationship with God and to do what He would like me to do in my life. When I was at my college, I accepted a couple assignments (called a calling) in my church unit (called a ward). These assignments gave me opportunities to serve others, whether it was visiting other girls and sharing a spiritual message, or even indexing old records onto the computer for family history research. I love the feeling I get when I serve others, and really enjoyed these assignments. The most important things I do to live my faith are the small everyday things though. Praying to God and reading the scriptures every day help me to become closer to God and to learn to be a better person. Going to church every week is also very important to me. I have come to realize that the small, simple things we do in our lives to strengthen our relationship with God and to help others are so important.
