Hi I'm Courtney

I grew up in Utah. I'm a big believer in the importance of family in our lives. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Utah all of my life, but I have spent some time living in Wyoming and Idaho. I love spending time with my family hiking in the nearby mountains--the views are always so breathtaking! As I've grown up, school has become more and more important to me. I've worked hard to do the best that I could possibly do. I am only 14 credits away from getting my Associates Degree. My major is currently General Studies with a Marriage & Family Studies emphasis. Family has always been important to me--although I have some family members that I don't get to see very often. I've learned that it's important to keep in contact and help each other out. I love music, and one of the great stress-relievers that I have found is playing the piano! It definitely helps me to relax and clear my thoughts. I also enjoy writing. I have a pretty creative mind, and ideas for genres like novels and children's books are constantly running through my head.

Why I am a Mormon

I've been blessed to grow up with the Gospel always being in my life. That being said, I have also had to find out for myself if this Church is true. After much reading of the scriptures (Book of Mormon, Old Testament,, New Testament, Pearl of Great Price, and Doctrine & Covenants--Yes, I really did read them all the way through), prayer, fasting, pondering, and question-asking, I am grateful to say that I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true! Throughout my life, I've learned that we have a loving Heavenly Father who wants us to be able to return to live with Him again. And because this is His desire, He provides commandments that will help us to be able to obtain this goal. I've also learned that as we come unto Christ and study the scriptures, we will also have this desire to return to live with our Father in Heaven again. And, this desire will help us to obey the commandments that God has given us. This is how my testimony of the truthfulness of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints began, and it continues to grow as I nourish it with the words of God.

How I live my faith

I am currently preparing to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. And, to help me prepare for that mission, I have found that it is very important to continually read the scriptures and serve others. In the ward that I'm in right now, I serve as a Ward Missionary and a Visiting Teacher. Both of these callings help me to get to know others better and how I can better serve them. Throughout my life, I've learned that as I serve those around me, I grow closer to God--and that is very important to me.
