Hi I'm Lauren

I'm from Washington state. I'll be serving a mission in Brazil. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi, I'm Lauren! I'm from Washington state and am the youngest of 6 kids. I've been at college for the past 2 years but am taking a break to serve a mission in Brazil. When I finish my mission in 18 months I plan on continuing my degree in Elementary Education. I absolutely love sports and to do anything active. I mostly love to play basketball or soccer. I enjoy playing the piano, and spending time with my family and close friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up attending Church every Sunday and was baptized when I was 8 years old. When I was younger, I relied on the testimonies of my parents and family. But as I got older, I started to wonder why I attended church and why I believed the things I did. It is essential to gain your own testimony. So when I was in high school, I followed the directions given in the Book of Mormon, Moroni 10:3-5 where it says to " ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost." I can truly say that I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the true and only true church on the earth today. It is the same church that Christ established when he was on the earth and restored by the prophet Joseph Smith. I know that although the Book of Mormon was written centuries ago, it is for our day and contains truths and concepts that lead us back to our Heavenly Father. I know that Jesus Christ is the Savior and Redeemer of this world. I know that he came to this earth, not in a chariot of fire, but in the humble circumstances of a stable, to suffer and die for our sins. His infinite amount of love has given us the opportunity to choose to follow Him and live with Him again someday. I have gained my testimony little by little. It is a gift, and something I cherish deeply and is the reason I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I have had several opportunities to serve in my church. I think one of the most important opportunities I've had is to be a visiting teacher. A visiting teacher is for every woman in the church. We are assigned a companion and a few people to visit every month with our companion. So everyone gets people to visit, and to be visited once a month. It doesn't have to be church related. It is for developing friendships and serving others.
