Hi I'm Elsa

I just finished my first year at a university. I'm putting it on hold so that I can serve a mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the oldest of five children. I grew up just outside of Boston, Massachusetts. I really love my family, they are my biggest supporters! I love go running, visit museums, and explore the city. I just finished my freshman year at college and loved it! I'm currently on a mission in Russia--for a year and a half--and I love every second of it!

Why I am a Mormon

I was so excited to go to college. I think that being away from home is when I really started to figure out who I am and who I want to be. When you get to college you are the one who is in complete control of your life; I got to choose how early I had to wake up, who I would spend time with, and more importantly, what I believed. I was born in the church, but I had, in a way, fallen away from it. I decided that I needed to find out for myself of its truth. I prayed, in the name of christ, to know that it was true. Immediately I felt a calm warmth in my chest, that palpably affirmed to me that this was the true church. I have a firm knowledge that prayer is important and that it really is how we can communicate with God, our Heavenly Father. I know that he has a plan for me, because as I've prayed about important decisions, he has led me to places and people that have brought me joy and peace. I know that he loves me and that he loves you too. If you come to him with your questions and your worries, he will comfort and answer you. Many things have made me happy, but this gospel has brought me the only lasting joy and peace. I know that it is true, enough that I am willing to put my life on hold for a year and a half to share this message.

How I live my faith

My focus is on becoming more christ-like. I study the scriptures (both the book of mormon and the bible) to learn more about Christ and his mission and try to emulate him. A big part of that is service. I always try to volunteer wherever I am. At school, I try to give an hour of my time every week volunteering for local organizations. At home, I try to volunteer at the local food bank. I'm preparing to serve for 18 months as a missionary to share what I know and what has brought me joy with others.
