Hi I'm Tim

My name is Tim Soucy, I grew up in Billings, MT and am currently attending school at MSU-B. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am 23 years old, the youngest of 3 brothers.. My 2 older brothers are both married with kids and live here close to me and my parents. I still live with my parents and am currently attending college, majoring in sociology and minoring in Spanish. I plan to work for the DEA once I finish school. I am also working full time at King Transfer and Storage. My hobbies include Brazilian jiu jitsu, motocross, rock climbing, and shotgun shooting. I also really enjoy just taking it easy and hanging out with my friends and family. I have been home from my mission in the Sao Paulo South, Brazil Mission for a little over a year now. I am dating an absolutely amazing girl and I hope and pray with all my heart to be able to marry her within the next year.

Why I am a Mormon

I have complete dedication to the Mormon faith simply because I know with all my heart that it is the true church of God on the Earth today. I grew up in the church, but had a hard time believing in its teachings. I did not have a sound understanding or knowledge of the gospel, nor was I very interested in gaining these things as a teenager. When I graduated from high school lots of things changed dramatically in my life. I felt very confused about life, if God really did exist and love me, if I was supposed to follow any particular religion or not, etc... This apparently was the most opportune time in my life for God to touch my heart. My parents strongly encouraged me to read the Book of Mormon and think about the church and ask God if it was true. For the first time in my life, I did these things and the answers that God gave me were absolutely undeniable. From that moment I worked as hard as I could to build my foundation upon the rock of Christ. Simply, I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the only church that is guided by direct revelation from our loving Heavenly Father today. I know this because He has shown me.. I cannot deny that nor could I ever cease to live the standards that I know to be true.

How I live my faith

I do not currently have any major responsibilities within the church, but I do dedicate my life to the teachings of the gospel and pattern my life after the example that our Savior has shown. Jesus Christ and His gospel are so important to me and I do my best to be a a good Christian example and help those around me to accept all of his teachings as well. I try to be friendly and loving to all with whom I come in contact. I am service oriented and am always looking for opportunities to be able to help someone. Small acts of kindness go a great way. My girlfriend and I both dream of going to Africa to provide service in communities there once I graduate. I believe that our dedication to Christ and his teachings are really shown in our actions when nobody else is looking. Daily prayer and scripture study are essential to my life. I also strive to always be honest and fair in all of my dealings, even if nobody would know the difference. The most important thing to me is having a clear conscience before the Lord and knowing that I did all I could to serve Him and His children here on Earth.

How is the Book of Mormon different from the Bible? How did Joseph Smith obtain the “golden plates” or Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is actually very similar to the Bible. It is a book of ancient scripture written by the prophets of God. These prophets testify that Jesus is the Christ and that only by living the teachings of His gospel can we return to live in the presence of God one day. Furthermore, these prophets provide us with important revelations as to the plan of God for all His children, important information regarding ancient history, and many other important truths of the gospel. The Book of Mormon and the Bible are to be used as equal companions to help us gain a deeper more fuller understanding of what exactly our Heavenly Father expects of us. If one reads this book with an open heart and a sincere desire to know whether or not it is true will gain a knowledge directly through the Holy Ghost that it is true. Show more Show less
