Hi I'm Charlotte

I'm a big sister, a musician, a bookworm, and an English major. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a student at BYU studying English, and now I'm preparing to serve a mission in Minnesota speaking Spanish. I love to read books, especially classics. Learning about different languages and the way they influence thoughts and attitudes fascinates me. I just finished my 5th year of studying the Latin language, and I'm super excited to be learning Spanish now. One of my favorite ways to express my emotions is through music. I've been playing the piano since I was 7, and I now also play the violin, organ, and guitar (just a little), and I sing. In the last year, I've discovered that I love to dance, especially folk dance. I've been sewing basically as long as I can remember (since I was 4) and now I do custom dollmaking. The smallest doll I've made was 1 1/2 inches tall and the largest was over 8 feet tall. I easily become excited by the beauty in the simple things of life. I love to laugh. I enjoy hiking with my family, and generally spending time outdoors. My family and being a Mormon are both extremely important to me.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family that has been Mormon for several generations, but as I grew up I had to make my own decision to pray about the church. My answer didn't come immediately, but slowly over the course of several months as I prayed and studied the scriptures, especially the Book of Mormon. I was really unhappy before, but when I began studying the scriptures and praying to know if this church is true I felt peace. I came to know that Christ and Heavenly Father loved me, I found more purpose in life, and I became a lot happier. Now I know that this is God's church, and I have no doubt about it. Since I know that, I cannot live any other way with integrity. Living by the gospel and strengthening my relationship with God has brought me an amazing amount of peace and joy.

How I live my faith

Probably the most obvious way I live my faith is by attending church every Sunday. However, living my faith is something I do every day, not just on Sundays. I pray to my Heavenly Father everyday and tell Him how my day has been. Even though I know that He knows exactly what happened and how I felt that day, I share my hopes, joys, questions, and sorrows, and as I do so I feel myself becoming closer to Him. I ask for strength and guidance both for me and for my friends and family. I try and interact with those around me with patience and love, just as Christ would. Mormons believe that families are central to God's plan, so I'm preparing to be a wife and mother someday. I'm definitely not perfect at any of this, but I try to live more like Christ every day so that one day I will be prepared to return to live again with my Heavenly Father and with my family forever.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Right now I am preparing to be a Mormon missionary. The gospel has given me great happiness and peace, and I haven't been able to find that anywhere else. Mormons believe that we are all brothers and sisters, sons and daughters of God. Just like I want all my younger siblings to be happy, I also want everyone else in the world to be happy, too. So the biggest reason that I personally want to be a missionary is because I want my brothers and sisters to also be able to have that peace and happiness that I have found in the gospel.
