Hi I'm Mike

I live in western Colorado. Love the outdoors. Have 6 grown children. Live the life that I love. I'm also a Mormon.

About Me

I am married to one of the funniest women I know. I work in the finance office of a local car dealer and love what I do. It is a rare day that I don't head to work with a smile on my face. I love to hike, golf, and hunt, though I don't do a lot of any of these activities because of family and church commitments. I have been a member of the church since I was 8 years old and have been involved for most of that time. Most people that know me well will tell you that I have a quick wit and subtle humor that you might miss if you don't pay close attention to conversation. I have been accused of being anti-social in public settings (just shy, I guess). Those same people are usually shocked when they meet me on my own turf, or in a more comfortable setting because I am not so reticent. I have 5 daughters, 1 daughter in law, 1 son and 4 sons in law (with one more commited to joining the family in June 28, 2013). I have a deep love for all of them and strive to get to know each of them better as we all grow up together. I have 6 granddaughters (at this writing) with another on the way. I am really enjoying this time in my life.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was 15 years old I was invited by a man who was a leader in the church to read from the Book of Mormon each day. He taught me that the best way to determine for myself if the book were true and correct is by knowing what is contained on its pages and by seeking the confirming witness of the Holy Ghost. I did. I came to know, over time, that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and when coupled with the Holy Bible and fervent prayer, the lessons taught will help to guide me through life on solid footing. There have been times when I have strayed from the straight paths of the gospel - but I have always been pulled back when I have opened these books looking for guidance and inspiration.

How I live my faith

I am striving to live my faith by doing each day those things that I have been taught are important for growth in the gospel. I read in the Holy Bible a chapter or two each day as well as one or two chapters in the Book of Mormon. I take time to ponder and consider the things I am reading and measure them against answers that I seek to guide my life. I pray often each day thanking my Heavenly Father for his guiding hand and blessing in my life and asking for His assistance where needed. I serve in one of the leadership councils in a local ecclesiastic unit of the Church and find the work to be challenging and often rewarding. I love the chance to serve along side other men and women who have varied life and leadership experience and I try to learn from all of them. This is one of the great opportunities in this church and it has benefited me in my home and in my professional life.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

I come to know God the Father by studying the life of Jesus Christ as recorded in the scriptures. I have learned that only through obedience to the commandments of God can I fully show Him that I love and honor Him. As I love and honor Him He reveals Himself to me through the scriptures and the influence of the Holy Ghost. Show more Show less
