Hi I'm Aja

I enjoy family history. I love languages. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I attended a year and a half of university, then I served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, speaking Spanish. I am now back from my mission and plan to go back to school. I love learning languages and about cultures. I have studied Japanese for 2 1/2 years. I enjoy working on family history-finding out who my ancestors are, and looking at picture of them. I love to read and sing. I have various health problems, and knowing that God has a plan helps me have peace.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormon) because I know that the things it teaches are true. Living by the principles taught in the church makes me happy.

How I live my faith

I do my best to follow the Savior's example every day. I read from the Bible and the Book of Mormon every day. As I read the scriptures each day, it helps me be happier. Going to church each Sunday helps me learn more about the Savior and the scriptures, and how I can apply this learning to my life. When I go to church, it helps me have a better week.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

We don't worship Joseph Smith. We respect him, and we recognize him as a Prophet of God. We only worship God the Father and his son, Jesus Christ. Show more Show less

Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

When we go to church we dress in our "Sunday best", which is usually and suit and tie for men, and modest dresses or skirts for women. We do this to show respect for God. We celebrate Christmas and Easter, and we can celebrate local holidays if we want to. We do celebrate birthdays, weddings, etc. Show more Show less

What is the First Vision?

Joseph Smith had been trying to find the right church, and after searching the Bible and going to different churches, he decided to pray to ask God what church he should join. The First Vision is what happened when he prayed. God and Jesus Christ appeared to him and told him that they would call him as a prophet to bring back Christ's church as he organized it, as it had been lost over the centuries. Show more Show less
