Hi I'm Sarah

I love to be outdoors. I find the world to be a curious and interesting place. I LOVE the gospel and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in California. I am the youngest of 6 children. I am student and I am studying Recreation Management. I love what I do. I find it interesting and exciting and something I can do that can really serve others. I have really struggled in my schooling but I find that hard work with a good balance really makes all the difference. Now I am going to serve a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I am excited for the opportunity to go out and teach others. In my free time I love to be outside enjoying nature and the fresh air. Another way I like to spend my time is by reading a good book, usually from 19th century British literature or I just like sitting down and watching a movie. I also love spending time with my family. They are very important to me and they bring me incredible joy and excitement. All in all I live a simple life but I fill it with people and things that I love.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know it is the truth. I have been lucky enough to grow up with it as an essential part to my home and through my own seeking I found it to be the most important thing to me. To me more specific I have come to know that Joseph Smith was a prophet by studying what he did and learning more about him. I know that the Book of Mormon is another book of scripture that testifies of Jesus Christ and goes hand in hand with the gospel. I know its contents are a record of apostles and prophets in the America thousands of years ago because I have read and tried to learn from it. I know from their teaching that I have grown and learned to be a better member of my church. I believe in our current prophet, President Thomas S. Monson. I know that he and his apostles receive revelation just for me and for this time on the earth. I know that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world. That he went through unimaginable pain to be able to comfort and understand me, but also for me to be able to return to be with him in the life after death. I know he is there for me and supports me whenever I make correct decisions. I am a Mormon because this gospel makes sense to me, but only after I have a taken a deeper look. I am a Mormon because I love this church and it always loves me back.

How I live my faith

I try to live in way that reflects the conscious decision I have made to follow the principles of this gospel. Every Sunday I go to a 3 hour block of church and following it I try to fill my day with reverent observation by not shopping, not working, and any activities that might take away from having the spirit with me. Throughout the rest of the week I try to study the scriptures everyday, pray, and also be aware of the presence of the lord in my daily life. Sometimes I am not always successful. It is easy to get distracted and not do some of things but I always try the next day to do better. To be honest it is not always the easiest, but because I my commitment I know that it is the right thing to do and that it has benefits that even I can not comprehend.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

No not technically, especially not for girls like me. To be honest it is never something I thought I would do. After much thought I asked if I should serve and I got a powerful feeling that I should serve. Now that I am going I can see how much I have already been blessed and how much more I will be blessed, but it is going to be really hard and I am a little scared, but excited at the same time. What is being a Mormon like?

It is awesome! I love how good I feel everyday. To be honest it isn't always easy but it is worth it because I know I am following what God wants me to do. Heavenly Father has given us a plan. That we were to come to earth and receive a body and to have experiences. Families are the best systems to help us through this, at times, difficult life. Through these experiences we always have a choice. The best part is if we make the choice between good and bad and choose the good we will be eternally blessed. That is right, if we do the good now, even if it isn't always that fun, we will receive happiness now and for the eternities. The best part is that we are there with our families. I feel great peace and comfort when I think of being with my family forever! Being a Mormon and truly studying and learning about Heavenly Father's plan for me just helps me understand and know what life is all about! I love being a Mormon! Show more Show less
