Hi I'm Matt

I never thought I'd be here. I'm a college student. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a college student. I'm majoring in history and in time hope to become a school teacher. Eating is one of my hobbies. I'm also a professional singer but only in my bathroom.

Why I am a Mormon

My journey to the Church is somewhat unique, it spanned about 12 years. When I was 8, a couple of missionaries visited my Grandfather's house and left him a Book of Mormon. He thought I would enjoy it and asked me to look through it. At the age of 8, I couldn't make much sense of the text, but I enjoyed the pictures in the front! Several years later, at the age of 12, I spent some time in the UK and Ireland on a foreign exchange program. My roommate on the trip was LDS. One night we attended Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the New London Theatre on Drury Lane in London. When we got back to our hotel room my roommate took out his scriptures and began pointing out specific things to me, as a 12 year old, it left a tremendous impression on me. High School was an incredibly troubling time for me, I smoked Marijuana and drank alcohol just about every day. Luckily I had a good group of friends that were always there for me. My best friend is also a member of the Church. There was just something about her that allowed me to open up to her moreso than anybody else I socialized with. We had heart to heart conversations that I can remember to this day, she meant alot to me, and still does. After High School, I moved into an apartment about 50 miles away. Wouldn't you know it, my new landlord also happened to be a member of the Church. One day he made the remark that I would make a great Mormon, and invited me to attend Institute across the street from the college I currently attend. I relented for a great while, and even crossed paths with missionaries during this time, but I didn't accept their message, yet........ It wasn't until March of 2013 that I finally agreed to attend a service, it was a farewell for my friend from High School, leaving for her mission. The three hour service felt like 1/2 an hour, and I was enthralled. I took the discussions the next week, and was baptized three weeks later. God's baptismal rifle finally caught up to me!

How I live my faith

Being a new member of the Church, I'm just trying to help others come unto Christ. Sometimes I'll feel compelled to share the Gospel with them, other times it's as simple as trying to be like Him in providing service or help to those in need.
