Hi I'm Kat

I grew up in Louisiana. I'm a college student. Biology and health are the areas I'm studying. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a senior in college. I love playing sports, especially, basketball and volleyball. I have one awesome younger brother, and two loving parents. I am somewhat of a science nerd. I am studying biology education and health education. I am a bit more liberal with my beliefs, but I still follow Jesus and the example He set.

Why I am a Mormon

I was baptized in the church at the age of 8. However, my family wasn't super active in the gospel in my younger age. Around the age of 14, I chose to stray from the church. My parents were separated, and I felt responsible. It was after Hurricane Katrina. My family chose to stay in Louisiana for the storm. I had one very distinct moment after the storm where I was prompted by the Spirit to act on something, and I didn't. Because of this, my family started to fall apart. After the hurricane, my parents got separated. I stopped going to church. For many years, I was away from the gospel. In that time, I took up drinking and inappropriate conduct. I didn't care. I wanted to run from what I thought I caused. My parents were putting my brother and I in between them. It sucked! Then, one day, they decided to start working out their problems. This lasted for a while, and there was never any real progress. Eventually, my parents decided to really get back together. Shortly after, the missionaries were allowed into my home. It had been 4 years since this had happened. They invited my family to volleyball on Friday nights, and my family couldn't turn that down. The missionaries eventually got my family to come back to church. I was the first to come back. I sat by myself every Sunday. It was hard being there without my family. Then, my dad started coming back. A few months later, my brother. And a year and a half later my mom joined us. It was so great to have my family all together on Sunday at church. I made a personal promise that I would never ignore a prompting from the Spirit. A few years after this, my family went to the temple to be sealed for time and all eternity. The missionaries who helped us get back to church, the men I consider family, were there to support us. I am an endowed member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I am proud to say that. I know that I am a child of God, and that He never gave up on me or my family! I love the gospel.

How I live my faith

I am one of the leaders of the ladies in my single's ward. I teach, help, care for, and extend a loving had to the ladies I am over. I work with the activities leaders in my ward to organize events. I have taught the youth in the past, and I have been a camp leader for the youth girls.

Mormons believe Jesus Christ is their Savior. Why do we need a Savior?

Kat
Jesus Christ is my Savior. I need Him, and so do you! I've heard in the past the quote that says Christ makes up the difference. However, I know that He makes ALL the difference. We need a Savior because He is the best friend that will NEVER leave you. He loves us so much, and we can't even comprehend His love. He suffered and died for us to live again. He spent time feeling everything that you have ever felt and will ever feel. He knows you better than you know yourself. He is the light of the world. He will take us in all of our faults and sins, and still love us. He is the essential part of the atonement. Without Him, we wouldn't be able to make it back to live with our Heavenly Father. He brings peace, love, happiness, truth, guidance, hope, and so much more. It's not always following the Savior, but it is all worth it. I want to stand one day next to my loving Savior, and thank Him for all that He did for me. Jesus is our older brother, and He will always pick us up when we're down, help us when we are stumbling, and comfort us when we are in need. I know that the Savior is waiting for us to lift up our head towards Him. Following Christ is a straight and narrow path, and I know that we will be blessed for following Him. I want to be like, come unto, and become like Christ. Show more Show less
