Hi I'm Heidi Bateman

I love learning. I love art . I'm a student, a friend, and a sister. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I moved around the United States quite a bit growing up, but the one thing that was always constant was my family. I love spending time with my talented and crazy brothers, mother, and father. We love spending time in the outdoors and working hard together. I have worked with the Boy Scouts of America for several summers as a Cook and an Archery Director with my mother and brothers. I enjoy feeding people and watching the bonding that some good food and little love can create. I love creating all kinds of things; crafts, quilts, clothes, drawings, paintings, books. I enjoy learning. Learning about literature, history, culture, my ancestry, science, philosophy, you name it and I'm there!. I just finished my fourth year of college and have almost received my Bachelors in English Education. I can't wait to be a teacher and a mother!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the church. I always knew that it brought peace and happiness into my life and that it made sense to me, but when I was in my early teens I decided to read the Book of Mormon and find out for myself If I really believed it was true and could receive a confirmation of its validity as promised in Moroni chapter 10. One night after I had been reading the Book of Mormon I knelt down to pray about what I had been reading and had such an overwhelming feeling of joy and light I was moved to tears. I remember praying that I could always remember that feeling, it was a moment and feeling I never wanted to forget. More than anything I had a desire to share this overwhelming happiness with others. I wanted everyone to be able to feel the way I did. It just made sense to let those I cared about know about this wonderful discovery! I know that Christ atoned for the sins of all mankind so that everyone might be able to return to him and partake of the wonderful light and love that come from Jesus Christ. I know that through the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ and his priesthood we can access the ordinances that make it possible to fully participate in the cleansing and enabling power of the atonement that will make it possible to return to our Heavenly Father and live with him.

How I live my faith

There are so many oppurtunities to help others and reach out and make new friends. Some of my dearest friends during my college years have been made through visiting girls in my ward to make sure they know they are loved and that they have a friend. Through serving these girls and helping them out I have found a deeper understanding of what it means to love others as Christ wants us too. While in college I have been in wards that are composed of single adults ages 18-31 which has been a unique opportunity to interact with those my age who share my values and beliefs. Because of this I have also been able to participate in awesome service oppurtunities that help those in my community of all ages. On Sundays I go to a care center and play the piano for the worship services that are held there and because of that have had many sweet and tender experiences and been able to learn and grow from the friends that I have made there.

Why do Mormons believe in the Bible?

Heidi Bateman
Because we believe our Church is not just a Church that was created by men for earthly gain but rather is the restored and everlasting gospel of Jesus Christ we then believe that the Bible will provide insight and understanding into that gospel. Just as God led and directed his children in the Old and New Testament he does so now. Just as the saints from New Testament times valued and treasured the writings found in the Old Testament so do we treasure and study ancient writings. We believe in the Bible because it testifies of Christ. I have found in my personal study of the scriptures, that the Bible and the Book of Mormon go hand and hand together and each clarify and add meaning to the other. We believe in the Bible because we believe that God loves and guides his children and thus will give them direction and comfort through his holy writings given through his Prophets.
