Hi I'm Melanie Aamodt

I am an archaeologist and a fan a musicals. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia as the youngest of six children. I have four older sisters and one older brother who is the closest to me in age. My whole family is very musical, we all played piano, sang and played in band. My brother and I were in a community children's choir for 12 years each and both loved marching band where I played the flute. Ever since I learned how I have loved reading. I would read for hours in my room tearing through book after book. I especially fell in love with historical fiction and the mysteries that they held. This lead to my interest in archaeology which I have chosen as my major in college.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church so I have been attending since I was a baby. I went to primary and activity days and got baptized when I was eight. When I was a young teenager I found my own testimony in the church. My testimony started in prayer and it is still the strongest part of my testimony. I know that God listens to my prayers and that he answers them.

How I live my faith

When I was a teenager I became a leader within my youth group helping the younger girls to learn and understand what we were learning or doing. When I went to college I directed the music for sacrament meetings every week. I have also been a visiting teaching coordinator where I made sure that all the women were visited each month to support each other. Recently I was in charge of Group Home Evening for my singles ward. Each Monday groups would get together to have a lesson and activity. I was over the group leaders making sure that the people in each group were fine and that people were getting involved. Now I am serving a mission for the church where I am sharing the gospel to those who have not had the chance to hear about how the Lord can bless our lives as we follow him.
