Hi I'm Dean

I'm a musician, I'm a gamer, I love to laugh, and I'm Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Utah in a big family. I grew up in the church and I see the impact that it has had on my life now more than I have before. The Gospel has protected me and my family from a lot of heartache. I lived in Florida for 2 years doing service and I'm going to school to become a computer programmer! I like it because it's like a puzzle, I love problem solving, and this way, I can actually get paid to do it! I love spending time with my friends and family and just be able to laugh and talk with people. I do everything I can to be happy, I know that God wants me to be a happy and positive person. I love to play video games, I think I was born with a video game controller in my hand, and it is still something that I enjoy with my family and friends. I also love music, I play trumpet and ukelele and I also enjoy writing music. One of the favorite things I have done was writing a symphony that I was able to perform! I believe that music can express what words cannot. I love to learn as well! I have taken my first year in college and look forward to continuing my education.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the LDS church and I always went to church, when I got older into my teenage years I started to wonder if the church that I was raised in was really what it professed itself to be, that is "The Church of Jesus Christ." I struggled with this for a long time, all of my friends would share their experiences about a strong feeling of peace and warmth when they prayed about the Book of Mormon and so they knew that the church was true, and I wanted desperately to have that experience. These feelings followed with me up until I was graduated from High School and in college. My first semester of college was very difficult for me, I went to church for the first few weeks, but I felt like I didn't belong there, I didn't feel accepted so I stopped going to church for a while. I came to the conclusion that I needed to find out for myself if the church really was Christs church upon the earth, so I started reading the Book of Mormon. I can't really narrow it down to one prayer or one experience with the spirit that helped me gain a testimony that the church is true. It came bit by bit, piece by piece, until one day I realized that I had my own testimony of the things I had been taught all along. It was a huge comfort to me to recieve that answer, and know that I had been blessed to be raised with the fulness of the Gospel. The Church and the Gospel mean more and more to me everyday, they helped me get my life back on track, and helped me to come to know that there is a God, and that he is my Father and loves me. It helps me through all of my trials that we all go through in life and it gives me hope. I know that whatever comes up in my life that I can overcome my trials because of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

Following Jesus Christ is a daily thing. I try to do all that I can each day to serve and live my life the way that will please our Heavenly Father. I served a mission in Orlando Florida area, and I learned a lot. I learned especially that the most important thing we can do to help someone is to just love them as they are. We are are different and make different mistakes and stuff, but we all need to treat eachother right. I have learned that God loves all of his children, and that I need to love them too. Living a gospel centered life means loving Gods children the way that He would. I'm not perfect and I still struggle, but I know that even when I have a bad day, that I can do better tomorrow and God still loves me. I try my best to follow in the Saviors steps.

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

Dean
A lot of people misunderstand what they might have heard about the church and might think that Joseph Smith wrote the Book of Mormon. This is not true! The Book of Mormon was written by prophets, just like the Bible. The Bible was written by prophets in the old world, like Moses, Noah, Isaiah, or the Apostles. The Book of Mormon was written by prophets in the new world (american continent) such as Lehi, Nephi, Alma, or Mormon. Mormon was the prophet who put all the other prophets writings together into one book, that is why this record is called "The Book of Mormon". Joseph Smith was called of God to translate the record from the language of Mormon or Lehi into english so we could read it in our time. Show more Show less
