Hi I'm Matthew

I love music, the outdoors, and hanging out with my family. I'm currently serving a mission in Virginia. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the youngest of 2 kids. It's just my older brother and I! I love skiing, swimming, boating, and any other kind of outdoor activity! I also love musical theater and choir. My extended family is incredibly close, and one of my absolute favorite things to do is get together and play all kinds of games! Whenever I am stressed or anxious about everything I have to do, or when life just gets hectic, I love taking a break, going outside, and laying down on my trampoline and just looking at the sky. It's easy for me to marvel at all of God's creations. In the Book of Mormon, the prophet Alma testifies that "all things denote there is a God; yea, even the earth, and call things that are upon the face of it, yea, and its motion, yea, and also all the planets which move in their regular form do witness that there is a Supreme Creator."

Why I am a Mormon

The blessings that come from living righteously and following the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ are innumerable. Receiving divine guidance, even in my day to day life, has helped me make better decisions and become a happier person. I have a firm testimony that Jesus Christ was our Savior, and because of His ultimate sacrifice, the Atonement, anyone can repent and stay on the path to return to our Heavenly Father. Knowing this makes me happier than I can explain. The teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints are true, I have felt the truth of Christ's gospel burn within my heart as I've prayed and received answers to those prayers.

How I live my faith

The scriptures talk about Charity being the "pure love of Christ". As I have studied the scriptures and prayed, I have learned and gained testimony that Christ glorified God by serving God's children, and loving them no matter what. Even unto his last breath while being crucified, he plead with God on behalf of mankind. So that is how I try to live my faith. I do my best to love and serve everyone I meet. Through thoughtful prayer and diligence, it has become easier for me to love all of God's children, no matter who they are. I live my faith by example, and although I'll never measure up to the example our Savior set, the best way I can show love for Him is by serving all I see. There is nothing more rewarding for me than serving our Heavenly Father's children.

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

We absolutely believe in the equality of men and women. The women in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints are absolutely incredible. I have had incredible role models throughout my life, men and women alike. Just speaking from my life, I have an incredible mother and father who truly understood the importance of raising their family in a Christ centered home. We prayed often, read scriptures together, and held family dinners daily. In addition to working hard to support his family, my father constantly and consistently supported my mother. I can honestly say with all my heart, that my father supported my mother in every action. While of course disagreements arise, my father never once disregarded my mother, and my mom the same to my dad. All respect I have gained for women, I have learned from my father. Show more Show less
