Hi I'm Jared

I grew up in South Florida. I am an electrical engineer. I'm a mormon.

About Me

I am son, a brother and an uncle. I graduated college a few years ago and am not working as an electrical engineer. I played the trumpet in middle and high school. I gained interest in robotics in high school which lead me to pursue engineering. My hobbies have been for the longest time now motorcycles, dancing and canoeing.

Why I am a Mormon

I guess there is not simple and concise answer to this question. I am a Mormon because to me, this is where I have been able to find most peace. Being a single guy, away from home and family, in my 20's, there are many things that can occupy my time. Although they may provide some type of temporary joys, I have only been able to find lasting peace and happiness in service of my fellow man and studying the gospel. I guess one of the darkest moments for me was after my motorcycle accident. I nearly lost my leg. I remember the first Sunday I returned to church after my accident the hymn they sang was hymn 241, "Count Your Blessing". The last verse of the hymn Do not be discouraged; God is over all. Count your many blessings; angels will attend, Help and comfort give you to your journey’s end." This hymn reminded me of all the ways that my Heavenly Father has blessed me. As I started to study the scriptures daily and live them and apply the teaching to my life, my life has changed. I learned to be a better friend, brother, and son. Knowing that Jesus is the Christ and our redeemer provides me with so much solace. That he suffered all things in order to know how to comfort us. Knowing we are never alone, that our Heavenly Father loves us and wants us to return to live with him. He provides us the light to get through any darkness that we may be currently experiencing. I know that the Bible and the Book of Mormon were divinely inspired and written with us in mind. To help guide us and show us the way. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my life by trying to help out wherever I can. I volunteer my time as a mentor to high school students who have interest in math, science and engineering. Through the church I work other single adults in the area to organize dances/parties and activities.

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

Jared
In studying the scriptures we learn about the nature of our Heavenly Father. As we pray and ponder the things we read, we are able to find guidance, counsel, and answers to many of our prayers. As we ponder the scriptures in our hearts they become a tool of guidance whenever we need them. Show more Show less
