Hi I'm Rachel Hollingsworth

I grew up in Pocatello, Idaho. I am an Army wife to a US Soldier for over 15 years. I am a mother. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I was born the middle child of a large family . My mother stayed at home with us while my dad worked in the grocery business. When I was in the third grade my mother went back to school to be a Nurse. Our childhood was happy, although we definitely did not have much. At nineteen I met my husband Clint at a restaurant that no longer exists. I was a young college student living with my parents. He was as well! Life was very hard at first. Our first child was born almost a year after we were married. We lived modestly at that time and worked hard. It is hard ti have a new baby and work full- time at the same time. I wanted to be home with my son. When I found out I was once again pregnant a year later we pondered what we needed to do. We were a young family. We decided that my husband would go active duty military since he was in the guard at the time. This decision was met by much opposition by many of our family. We knew this would be best for us. Life is not so difficult anymore. After many hardships and sicknesses and surgeries by me we are happy. We can not have more children due t o the sicknesses and surgeries I have had. This is hard for us but we are do grateful we have the two kids we do have! We have lived all over the United States as well as Europe. We have never lived very close to our extended family! We have only had each other to rely on as well as the members of the church we have met along the way.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon not because of my parents. I am a Mormon not because anyone expects it. I am a Mormon because it makes sense to me. The gospel makes sense. How can a wife of a soldier send her spouse to war without knowing that she will see him again, even if he dies in this life that he can be with you in the eternities. I am a Mormon because when I have followed the precepts laid before me through the gospel I have been strong! I have been happy, when I have not I have been miserable! I am a Mormon because I cannot imagine not knowing where I come from or where I am going. I am a Mormon because in a world that seems somehow devoid of morals I have a moral compass in the gospel! My testimony has been tried but holds true. I know that I have a Heavenly Father! I know I can be forgiven when I make mistakes! I know that I can be amazing if I realize that through the atonement of our Savior I can be all I need and want to be! I know that my Heavenly Father knows me by name. I know that my trials are known and I will never be alone when I ask for strength or comfort. I know that I can always find answers in the scriptures and prayer. I love this gospel and the freedom it brings to me! Yes the gospel brings freedom! I do not have to pretend who I am. I know! I am a Daughter of God! I love being a Mormon!! That is why I am a Mormon!!

How I live my faith

When life has gotten rough their has been the temptation to let go of each other or the rod that seems to anchor us to the path we know we should follow. We hold on. We think of all the beautiful blessings we enjoy and we move forward. We realize that we are truly not in charge but that there is a plan for each of us. It is a plan to be happy. We have tried as a family to always find ways to grow, ways to serve. When Clint has been gone with the military I have relied heavily on my Heavenly Father. I know I cannot make it alone. I know that wherever we go if I will be happy or not is up to me. The scriptures have served as a great guide to my life. I have an amazing, supportive family who also helps me to learn what I need to know! I have held multiple callings from Relief Society President to Sunday School teacher , as I do them with all my heart I am fulfilled! If I do all I know I should and serve with all of my heart the lord helps me to hold my head up high. It is easy to get bogged down by circumstances but when I go into a situation with the attitude of being happy and being an example it is just not so hard. It is not so hard to be an army wife. It is not so hard to be a mother. It is not so hard to be me. I am never alone!!
