Hi I'm Jocelyn

I love hiking, water sports, and reading. I want to spend my life travelling and studying plants. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I recently graduated from Brigham Young University in Wildlife and Wildlands Conservation. I plan to continue on the graduate school and study peoples interactions with plants. Before continuing school, I am taking a break to serve a mission in Finland. I really love the gospel and science and have enjoyed learning about how they can be compatible.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and so I have been learning the teaching of this church since I was very young. It always seemed to make sense and so I followed what was taught. Once I got older, however, I began to wonder more if it was really true. I have many experiences where through prayer, scripture study, and little miracles I have felt a sense of peace and goodness. When I keep the commandments given by God I feel joy and when I am not doing my best I feel unsettled. I know that prayers can be answered and that through the restored church of Christ we can find direction and happiness in our lives.

How I live my faith

A major tenant of our religion is service, and so I show my faith by serving others. I have enjoyed being part of community organizations such as Rotary and Boys and Girls Club. I have also found ways to serve within our church including teaching lessons and organizing activities. Right now, I am about to enter a new stage of my life where I will completely devote myself to serving God and his children. I will be going on an 18 month mission to Finland. Every day I will teach people about Jesus Christ and his gospel. I will spend a lot of time studying the scriptures and trying to better understand his teachings. I am looking forward to this time where I will be able to focus myself on the Lord's work.
