Hi I'm Peter

I am a husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather. I became a member in 1959 in Dewsbury

About Me

I'm a 76 year old retired for 16 years, previous to my retirement I worked as a motor mechanic for 30 years, two of which I served my National Service in Cyprus in the R.E.M.E, eventually I sold the business and up to my retirement worked as a national sales manager for a company selling imported machinery. I have 4 children, 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren who are all church members. I love most sports a lot of which i have participated in (I am now mostly a armchair fan) My hobbies are hiking ( now down to 5 miles) doing family history, which with the help of church and other web sites, some of the lines are back to the seventeen hundreds and I have approximately one thousand names. For over fifty years I have been a keen caravaner.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the Methodist Church. In my late teens I met a young girl who started to investigate the Mormon faith, though I could not agree with her decision I started to attend with her, she soon joined the Church. We eventually married, and after some years of attending I started to respect the beliefs, friendships and recognized they had something in there lives that I would like. The change came in my life when I learned that if I enquirerd of God I could now for myself On making this enquirery I immederately had my doubts removed. I have never doubted since and find in a troubled world peace and happiness.

How I live my faith

I have served in several callings at local, regional and national level, some of which required visits to church headquarters in Salt Lake City. I have been involved in Scouting at local and national levels. I have served on the National Prison visitors board. At present I help run a family history workshop.
