Hi I'm Jessica

I grew up in Hong Kong. I'm going on a mission to Japan. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I really love travelling. Since I was young, I've been traipsing around the world with family, friends, or both! One of my favorite things to do while I'm in another place is to make at least one new friend, then go and do something with them. One of the things I like to do while I'm away from my hometown is scuba dive. My whole family do it, so as soon as we zip up our wetsuits and strap on our BCDs, we embark on a whole new family adventure. Going under the water is a bit like travelling to a new place, except the friends we make are sometimes quite deadly and/or mute. Right now I've finished up my second year of university, where I'm training to become an editor. Since I can't travel all the time, I usually end up travelling through the words of another person in a book. Books are amazing! They have such power, and it's always been a dream of mine to help them into the world.

Why I am a Mormon

I began being a Mormon because that is the religion my parents have. However, as I grew older and began to understand things for myself, I've realized that this is actually where I need to be. I've explored other religions, and although there are so many beautiful teachings within them and so many people doing what they can to do the right thing, I feel God's love perfectly in the LDS church. The LDS Church has such power because it has all of those good qualities found in separate religions, all gathered in one place. I feel peaceful when I'm in an LDS church, and I don't think it's because I'm merely comfortable there. The Holy Ghost is present, and it's the best feeling in the world to have such total peace. Now that I'm a missionary, it's easy to feel that peace and joy every day. Through Christ, all men can be brought back to live in God's presence. We are all beloved children of Heavenly Father, and He loves all of us equally. I know that if we constantly strive to live as Christ lived, we can experience the fullest happiness possible and be able to enjoy God's richest blessings.

How I live my faith

One of the biggest things I like to do to live my faith is serve others. As Christ showed us countless times in the scriptures, when we are in the service of our fellow beings we are in the service of God. Through service, it's possible to get a glimpse of the magnitude of God's love for every one of us. Experiencing that love is one of my favorite things. This is why I'm serving a mission. As a missionary, I'm able to fully dedicate myself to serving others, all day, every day. It's the best!
