Hi I'm Esther

I grew up in Idaho. I live in Michigan. I have a daughter with Down syndrome. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married and have 4 children. I love reading and sewing and craft projects. I grew up in a large happy family and I always knew I wanted to be a wife and mother. What I didn't know is that one day I would have a child with Down syndrome. And, I didn't know what a blessing she would be in our family!

Why I am a Mormon

I've been a member of the church my whole life, but I had to decide for myself if this church was true. I studied and read the Book of Mormon and prayed to get my own answer. I received a quiet assurance and I knew in my heart that Joseph Smith did indeed see God and Jesus Christ, and that Jesus' true church was restored to the earth. Because I found my own testimony, I accepted a call to be a full time missionary in Seoul Korea. Sharing the gospel with others strengthened my testimony and built the foundation of my faith. As I continue to study the scriptures and participate in church activities, my faith remains strong. I know that when I follow the teaching of Jesus I am happy. I am thankful for my eternal family and I know that I can live with them forever!

How I live my faith

Serving and teaching others is important to me. I am a Cub Scout Den Leader and a teacher for the Women's Relief Society. I am an advocate for my daughter with Down syndrome. Jesus showed His love to everyone, and as I answer questions and help her classmates understand about her fun, unique personality and special needs, we can help others learn love and acceptance. My family is important to me. I have an amazing mom and dad, and 6 sisters and 3 brothers, and now I have a husband and children of my own. Death is not the end of our family relationships. The plan of salvation teaches us that our spirits continue to live in heaven after we die, and if we are faithful, we can live with our loved ones forever in heaven. What a wonderful blessing!
