Hi I'm Matthew Baird

I play bass. I sing. I act. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the oldest of seven. I was born and raised in Utah. I will serve a mission in the Texas Houston South mission this coming summer. I love to sing. I've sung in my high school's chamber choirs and started my own Barber Shop Quartet. I'm also an actor and I love to perform on stage. I play bass – upright and electric. I'm also a road biker and love to race. I have competed in a triathlon where I placed 5th in my age division. I love the outdoors. Camping and hiking are some of my favorite activities. When I'm not doing any of these activities then I'm hanging out with my family and friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I became a Mormon because I was born into it. But I have stayed a Mormon because I have found it to be true. The gospel has given me so much peace and joy in my life. The teachings of the gospel have made me a happier, better person because it's message is one of hope: I have a Father in Heaven who loves me and I have a Savior who also loves me and because he loves me He atoned for my sins so that I can live with my family forever.

How I live my faith

A huge part of living my faith is service. Because of this I try to participate in service projects around my neighborhood. I am on a Youth Committee that helps prepare, plan and organize service projects for the youth of my area. Another huge part of living my faith is in the simple things like giving a helping hand or smiling at someone who looks down. As I focus on these little acts of kindness I come closer to being like Christ. The best way for me to live my faith is to follow Christ. I do this by trying my best to be as good to others as Christ would be them.

How are modesty and chastity related? How can parents teach their children to be modest in dress, language and behavior?

Matthew Baird
In Christ's Sermon on the Mount he said "whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart" (Matt. 5:28). When a girl dresses immodestly it invites people to more readily "lust after her" and makes it difficult to maintain clean and appropriate thoughts. Show more Show less
