Hi I'm Tanika Rice

I'm a mother of one, an Air Force wife & a theatrical enthusiast. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently living an Air Force life with my loving husband. While I am supporting him in his dreams, I am also raising a beautiful little girl. I love theatre, especially Old Hollywood. Barbra Streisand, Elizabeth Taylor, Debbie Reynolds, I love them all!!! Pop in 'The Way We Were' and I am set. I am almost done with my Theatrical Education Degree! I can't wait to finish it and get to teaching theatre! I hope I can be as good of a theatre teacher as mine was to me! I also love to sing, dance, paint, draw, cook and I loooove makeup!!! Family is the most important thing to me, though. I can't imagine my life without these amazing people in it.

Why I am a Mormon

I fell from the church when I was sixteen. I was confused and hurt by some actions from other members. I went into a different religion but when I met my husband we went to Temple Square for Christmas (where he proposed moments later) and when I saw the Christus statue, I knew that I needed to go back to the church and follow Christ. It was one of the most powerful moments in my life. Since then, I have lived my life as a devout Mormon and I have honestly never been happier. The more that I do for Christ and the more that I do for our church, the happier I get. The more I follow the gospel, the more things fall right into place for my family. I know without a doubt that this church is where I am supposed to be. I know that this is the true church. I know that Christ is our Savior and he knows and loves us all. I know that this is exactly what I should be doing with my life, and it's the best decision I have ever made. I'm a Mormon because I know it's the truth and I know this is where I need to be.

How I live my faith

I have my very first calling in our church! I am the Nursery Coordinator (I basically make sure the church "day care" is running okay). It's great having so many kids around who are so sweet and eager to learn. It's a challenge for sure, having so many little ones around to be responsible for. Luckily, my husband was called as a Nursery worker so he's there to help me when I need him. Being a Nursery Coordinator is really hard for me, because I get overwhelmed easily with too many children. But after some council with my Bishop, I know that I am where I am supposed to be! That our Heavenly Father has asked me to do this to prepare me for something that I don't understand yet. So until I know what it is, I am just going to do the best job I can. I am also a visiting teacher and I am excited to interact with all the different ladies in our church! I feel like we can learn so much from others if only we open our minds to it. I run a blog and I hope that people who read it know that we Mormons aren't that different from anyone else. I hope that I serve as a good example of our faith.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Tanika Rice
Honestly, when I was coming back to the church I had a million questions. I wanted, and needed, to feel like I was making the most informed decisions. But my father-in-law told me that he'd answer all of my questions happily, but that it will all be for naught if I didn't pray about it. I had to get down on my knees, with an open mind, and an open heart, and ask God if The Book of Mormon was true. I got my answer. Show more Show less
