Hi I'm Chelsie

I'm a college student, I love to run, swim, and spend time with family and friends, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love life! I enjoy getting to know people and I LOVE to laugh. I can't stand to not be busy, so I'm always involved in a lot of different activities. I'm a full-time college student with plans to become a social worker, and I work part-time. One of my favorite things to do is volunteer my time. I love to visit the elderly and volunteer as a coach for the Special Olympics! Running and swimming are huge stress relievers for me - doing those on a daily basis keeps me sane. :) I'm excited for the upcoming year and a half, when I'll be putting all these activities on hold to serve as a missionary in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. I can't wait to bring the message of Christ's gospel to the people there!

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised as a Mormon, but for many years I lived off of the convictions of those around me - my parents and other adult members of my congregation. As I got older, I started to realize that I needed to decide for myself if this gospel really was true, and I started to really invest time into studying the scriptures, praying more, and striving to live my life more in harmony with Christ's commandments. As I did that, especially as a freshman in college, I gradually developed a deeper understanding of the gospel and started to gain my own testimony of it. I have never had one single life-changing moment where I knew all of the sudden that the church was true; rather, I have had my conviction strengthened gradually as I have found answers to my prayers, felt the influence of the Holy Ghost in my life, and felt the love of the Lord. I am still learning and working to strengthen my testimony, and I know that I have a long way to go, but I know that God lives and is aware of me. I know that the Book of Mormon is truly the word of God and that our church is led today by a living prophet. In the end, why am I a Mormon? Because by living my life in line with the principles of this church, I am the happiest I have ever been.

How I live my faith

I try to make my faith a part of my everyday life by the way I live. Christ asked us to always live the way He would, and I try to be obedient to that by being kind to others, serving people around me, and being forgiving. I think it is important to regularly evaluate where I am in my obedience so that I can repent and continue to grow, just as Jesus Christ commanded. In my congregation, I live my faith by serving in a variety of ways, such as being in charge of organizing trips to the temple and planning activities for youth groups.
