Hi I'm Lisa

I'm a microbiology major, a serious board gamer, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I love learning! I can never get enough of it. I'm always reading a new book, trying a new hobby, or taking a different class at school. One of my biggest goals in life is to learn something new each day. I'm majoring in microbiology, and someday hope to be able to become a medical researcher. My minor is Korean, and I am a huge fan of Korean food! I love playing games with my family and friends whether its indoor or outdoor, board or card. My absolute favorite things in the world are playing with my nieces and nephews and taking naps on Sunday afternoons. I'm always listening to music, and love to sing and dance with my friends. Just love living life, and want to make the most of it!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family with parents who believed in Christ and who were members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Not a day went by where I did not feel Christ's and Heavenly Father's love for me. When I was 12 I attended a Girl's Camp with other girls in my community, and they encouraged us to pray to our Heavenly Father and find out whether the Book of Mormon, the base of our religion, was truly the word of God. I went into the trees, knelt down, and in prayer asked Heavenly Father whether the Book of Mormon was true. I was overwhelmed with an assurance of its truthfulness. It was not a voice in my head or a vision. It was just a feeling, and I knew it did not come from myself. Every time I attend church or read my scriptures or say my prayers I receive the same feeling. I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is headed by Christ and teaches His gospel. I know that He loves all of us, and because of of that love He suffered and died for us individually so that we might return to live with Him and our Father in Heaven. I know that He lives again and continues to lead His church. I know He restored His gospel through Joseph Smith, who was a prophet of God. I know that Thomas S. Monson is a living prophet of God today and continues to receive revelation for the world. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. I know that each of us can return to live with Heavenly Father and Christ if we live worthily. I know that He is watching out for me and that He cares about me. I know that if I live the way Christ asks me to live that I will have His help and will be able to feel joy even in hard times.

How I live my faith

I finished serving a full time mission for this church in 2014. When I returned home it was really strange to be back. I felt like I wasn't doing much to serve others anymore! However in this church I have continued to receive many opportunities to serve. I am given the blessing to serve the girls that live around me in my apartment complex by visiting them and helping them whenever they need someone there for them. I am lucky to be able to help the missionaries teach others about the wonderful message of the gospel, and I absolutely love sharing it! I keep a blog in Korean where I share my beliefs with people not only in the United States, but in Korea as well. Really the biggest impact we make on the others in our lives are not the times that we are presidents of big organizations or rich or important and famous. We change the world the most by our small examples of honesty and kindness that we show each day. I live my faith not only on Sunday in my church, but in every single hour. This is not a gospel that just changes our time schedule on Sunday. This is a gospel that changes how we will live every single day of our lives.
