Hi I'm Megan.

I'm a student, photographer and a Texan. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a culturally diverse area, which gave me many opportunities to learn about others' beliefs as well as share my own. This also opened me up to other things, especially different kinds of music. I am absolutely obsessed with music - I have it playing all the time, any genre - and I'm always finding new artists and bands to listen to. Going to concerts is one of my favorite things to do! I'm currently also a college student studying photography. When I am asked why I chose photography, I find that I can't go back and pinpoint a day where I made the conscious decision to pursue photography. It just kind of grew out of me slowly, and I knew without a second thought that it was what I was made to do. I think it's exciting to capture the world around me, specifically in the ways that I see it. I don't think there is anything more priceless than being able to freeze in time a candid moment between family or friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the Church, but I often had friends who assumed that I wouldn't be a Mormon if it wasn't the way I was raised. I will never know how I "would" have lived, but I am grateful to have been raised the way I was. I grew up surrounded by good examples, by people who loved me and taught me the gospel of Jesus Christ. I was given numerous opportunities to study and learn and find out the truth for myself. I think it's important not to dwell on the "what if"s but to focus on the great potential that I do have. There are countless opportunities to improve myself, and the gospel is the best way to do that. I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the true and living church on the earth today, and it was restored by the prophet Joseph Smith. I have prayed sincerely and a personal testimony that he saw God the Father and Jesus Christ, and, through Priesthood power, was able to translate the Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon is Another Testament of Jesus Christ, and is truly a book written for us, right here and right now. I know that I am a daughter of a Heavenly Father, who loves me individually. He knows me by name. I know that Jesus Christ is His Son, who lived a perfect life and performed the Atonement to succor all of my sins, weaknesses, pains, and sorrows. Jesus Christ is the Ultimate Empathizer - I find comfort in knowing that He always knows exactly how I feel and what I'm going through.

How I live my faith

I live my faith not only by studying the scriptures and praying daily, but by finding ways to serve others. One of the ways I have done that is by conducting the music in church on Sundays, because it brings a wonderful peace and Spirit to the congregation. However, I am currently serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I'm being trained in Portuguese so that I can teach the people of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and I'm beyond excited! I have always wanted to travel and experience new cultures, and now I get to go to a foreign country for 18 months, learn a new language, meet new people, and teach them what I know. To me, this is one of the greatest acts of service I can perform. There is no other happiness that can really compare to sharing the happiness I have in my life, which comes only through the love of Jesus Christ.
