Hi I'm Kevin Wadman

I live in Tucson Arizona. I love the arts and the sciences and never get any sleep. Also I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and have regularly attended church meetings for my entire life. I recently graduated high school and am, at the time of this posting, a few days away from beginning my service as a full time missionary. I love music, whether it's instrumental, choral, or musical theater, I'm always seeking it out and there's always something playing in the back of my head. I also spent time in high school performing and eventually leading our Colorguard. Being one of two boys in a class with thirty or more girls annually came with it's own set of challenges, but it certainly kept things interesting! After completing my Mission I will be attending Princeton University and studying physics, while I take courses in creative writing and theater to satiate my need for the arts. I'm not sure exactly where I'll end up afterwards, but I know that I intend to find stable employment to support and nurture a family and help them to have the lives, opportunities, and truths that they deserve. I achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouting Program as a direct result of my involvement in my church community. The blessings of service and self-reliance have been demonstrated in my life multiple times over.

Why I am a Mormon

There are numerous reasons that I continually choose to follow the teachings of this church, but only one is necessary. I have read the Bible and the Book of Mormon, and I have asked God if this church is in fact His church upon the earth. I have felt him confirm to me with certainty that this is the case. I have received this confirmation numerous times in my life, and during times of unworthiness have experienced fears and doubts, but I cannot deny the Word of God. My efforts to obey the commandments of God have only strengthened and verified this impression. I know without a doubt I would not be where I am today, and would not have found the success I have in my personal life, nor the sense of fulfillment I have in my spiritual life, were it not for the strength and guidance that I have received from on high, whether it be through prayer and personal scripture study or some other means.

How I live my faith

Our church has a lot of guidelines that members even within the church at times see as extreme or overly limiting. Activities that many people see as harmless are discouraged or overly general. Rules about hemlines and movie ratings, dating ages and music choices, as well as many others, trouble many members of the church and those who are investigating it's teachings. These guidelines are not commandments, but I assure you that I make a diligent effort to follow each and every one of them. While there are many activities that are not, in a technical sense, sinful, they can be harmful and detrimental to spiritual growth and developing a connection with God. The best way to avoid making mistakes that can have serious negative repercussions on our lives and in our hearts is to avoid actions that make it more difficult to avoid such behaviors. I live every day with the knowledge that my life, my knowledge, and my accomplishments are blessings t hat I have received from my loving Heavenly Father, and that I have a responsibility to ACT on those blessings. Faith without works is dead. Any individual who has an abiding faith in Jesus Christ will understand that he suffered infinitely for our sakes and he wishes nothing more than for us to follow his commandments and find the joy that is the natural result of that obedience. I am in no way perfect, but as I have relied on his strength and follow the commandments, I have felt that joy.
