Hi I'm Mercedes

I'm a pianist and a percussionist. I recently returned from serving as a missionary in the Czech/Slovak mission. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I'm twenty years old and I served as a missionary in the Czech/Slovak Mission. I am a student at Brigham Young University. Music is my passion. I play lots of different instruments, piano and percussion are my favorite. I love both performing and just listening to music. I also love playing sports, basketball is my favorite. I could shoot hoops all day long!

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because it's the one thing in my life I know is constant. When everything else around me is changing, the church is always the same. I will always know what my Father wants me to be. I will always know what I'm supposed to be doing, and I know how to contact my Father if I ever need help, and I can talk to Him every day. I know that this church is the only church with the fullness of the gospel. I know that Joseph Smith restored the fullness of the gospel and translated the Book of Mormon through revelation. I know that I have access to the same kind of revelation through prayer. All I ever have to do is pray and I can know anything. That fact is manifested everyday of my life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by sharing my testimony with others. I also study the words of our living prophet as well as the scriptures, the Book of Mormon and the Bible. I do my best to overcome weaknesses and come closer to Christ. I do my best to help others along the way.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Mercedes
The Bible is the holy word of God. We have our own book called the Book of Mormon, but we don't use this to replace the Bible. The very first page of the Book of Mormon says "Another Testament of Jesus Christ." The Book of Mormon and Bible are meant to be used together, they complete each other. There is a scripture in the Bible that states "In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall all things be revealed" and we believe this to mean the testaments of Jesus Christ in both books are to be used together. They both witness of Jesus Christ and his ministry. The Book of Mormon only provides more evidence of what the Bible teaches. Show more Show less
