Hi I'm Danielle

I've been attending Utah State University, I'm serving a mission in British Columbia, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've just finished my first year at Utah State University. I've mostly been taking generals, because I'm still not sure on what I want to be. Something that involves science, especially anatomy, would be cool. I worked as an after-school tutor for three years, and the kids were just great! As far as my interests, I really enjoy playing the piano, drawing, writing, reading, playing on our Wii, and watching movies. I have one crazy younger sister, who's also going to serve a mission. She's been called to Wisconsin! Right now I am serving a full-time mission in British Columbia! I started my mission in June, 2013, and will finish up right before this coming Christmas. So far I've served in Penticton, Burnaby, and Maple Ridge. I just love being out here, and being able to help those around me come closer to Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a LDS household, so I've been educated about the church since I was a toddler. I've grown up in a home where I didn't just have a mom and dad, I had a Heavenly Father that I could talk to about everything. I remember times of stress, when my dad would ask me if I wanted to pray, and when I did, all of the frenzied anxiety that had been running through my mind before was washed away. But, the moment I truly felt converted, however, was at a Summer Girl's Camp with girls in my church group. It's a tradition to have a testimony meeting on the last night we spent at the campground, where we express our feelings and beliefs. I felt like I was surrounded by light and joy, and that it permeated every part of me. I knew that those feelings were straight from God, through the Holy Ghost.

How I live my faith

For the last year of my life, and the next six months, I will spend my time talking to the people of British Columbia and helping them strengthen their faith in God and Jesus Christ. I love talking to people about their beliefs, and celebrating the beliefs that we share. I love how much time I have on my mission to pray to my Father in Heaven, and to study his words through the scriptures. Morning after morning I study the Bible and the Book of Mormon and just go "Wow!"

Why is family so important to Mormons?

To the LDS Church, the family isn't just a nice make-up of related people, it's sacred. The set up of a father and mother raising their children, is a principle that existed even before we came to this earth. While our families may (hopefully only on rare occasion) drive us crazy, and sometimes break our hearts, the family is also a place where we learn about love, about serving eachother, and about looking past ourselves.
