Hi I'm Danielle K.

I have the toughest--but best--job in the world. I'm a Mom. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to read! I have been reading books to my son since he was 2 months old (or younger) and have enjoyed instilling in him a love of books and of reading. What a great reward it is to look in on him in his bedroom reading books to himself, quoting what little bits he has memorized in his 2 year old vocabulary. I enjoy quilting as a way of creating something warm and beautiful. Hand quilting is surprisingly therapeutic, and I thoroughly enjoy it. I don't "sew"...that involves patterns that go beyond simple straight lines, and I have yet to make something in all my attempts to sew that have actually turned out as they were supposed to. But quilting, I can handle. I have a great love for music. I am constantly making up silly songs for my son to accompany the mundane daily routines of changing diapers, bathing, and brushing teeth. My family says he will grow up to be the next "Disney Star" because his life is already a musical. I am also currently learning to play the piano. I also play the flute. I love to bake! This is something instilled from my mother who would put us in our kid-sized aprons and teach us how to make homemade rolls that we got to put in our own special pan and then eat our creation for dinner. My son's favorite part of baking is playing in the flour, dumping out the ingredients (which mostly land in the mixing bowl) and punching down the dough. I love to make desserts--beautiful to look at and so delicious! My son loves to help make cookies!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because when I live the principles taught in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, I am happier, I have peace in my life, and I have the presence of the Holy Ghost to guide and comfort me through my trials. I know that I have a loving Heavenly Father who knows me personally and wants to converse with me through prayer. I know that Jesus is the Christ, the Savior and Redeemer of the world, that He lives, and loves us. I have undeniably felt the power of His Atonement in my life when I have sought for it. I know the Holy Ghost is the third member of the Godhead--a comforter and testifier of all truth. I know that Joseph Smith was the Lord's prophet chosen to restore the Gospel in these last days. I know that Thomas S. Monson is a living prophet; I have felt the Holy Ghost witness the truth of it to me. I know that through the restoration of the Priesthood keys, the authority to perform sacred ordinances in holy temples has been restored to the earth and I know that these temples are the House of the Lord. I know that through the ordinances performed in sacred temples, the family unit can be maintained throughout the eternities.

How I live my faith

I am currently a Primary teacher for 8-11 year old girls. Each week, I prepare a lesson that teaches them the principles of the Gospel of Jesus Christ as taught in the Doctrine and Covenants and through the faithful examples of the first members of the Church. Preparing these lessons has increased my faith in and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ, His Atonement, the very real power of prayer, the power of the Priesthood restored to the earth, and the restored ordinances of the Gospel found in Holy Temples. Hopefully, it has done the same for the children in my class.
