Hi I'm Brendan Child

I am a full time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I love music with all my hear! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Brendan Child. I am currently 20 years old and am a Missionary serving in the California Riverside Mission. I devote all of my time, attention, and energy to serving God, and teaching his gospel. I love music, and I love hanging around people. I am a percussionist, meaning I play the drums! Composing music is definitely a favorite of mine.

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a mormon? First things first, I was born into the church, but I wasn't "converted" to His gospel until a very trying experience: Back at the beginning of my sophomore year in high school, I had virtually no friends. If I did have any friends, they weren't acting like it. I felt utterly alone. It took it's toll on me and eventually pushed me towards dark thoughts about myself! I was so scared that I might push myself beyond the limit and seriously hurt myself. So one night, I knelt at my bedside and I prayed harder than I had ever up to that point asking, "Please, I MUST know that somebody cares about me!" After a few more minutes of pure, hard praying, I felt peace. I felt warmth both figuratively and literally. It was like my Heavenly Father was hugging me right there. I felt His pure love for me, and I know of His pure love for everyone out in this world too. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing what I know my Heavenly Father would want me to do.That can include anything from reading the scriptures every day, praying, going to my weekly church meeting, being a good example, and serving others. I am constantly trying to think about what I am doing. "Does what I'm doing/saying bring me closer to my Heavenly Father?" is usually a question running frequently through my mind. Doing service for others brings me more happiness than worrying about myself. It is more gratifying to see a smile on someone else's face than to receive something, especially out of greed. I have also learned to share my faith with others. The Savior told his disciples to "feed my lambs" and to preach his gospel to all of the world. The Savior wants us to be happy, and since I have been serving as a missionary, I can see why he would command us to share his gospel. Although serving as a missionary has been more trying than anything else I have ever done, it has made me happier than anything else I have ever done. I love the Lord, and He wants us to make right choices to make it back to live with him.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Brendan Child
You come to know your Father in Heaven the same way you would your father here on earth. You must keep Him in your life. You do this by Praying to him daily, read His words through the scriptures, general conference messages, and what the missionaries/other church teachers tell you, and by keeping His commandments. What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

Brendan Child
When I wake up in the morning, I immediately get on my knees and thank Heavenly Father for another day. I read out of the scriptures, and then I'm off with the rest of my day. Something I am constantly thinking about when something happens (someone drops something, somebody is being bullied, when I see someone struggling with groceries or packages) is what would Jesus Christ do if he were in my shoes. That in mind, I do my best to help everybody around me. I live to please my Father in Heaven. Every action and every decision should bring me closer to him. Show more Show less

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Brendan Child
In my time as a missionary, I have been invited into many people's homes. We talk about something different almost every time we come over. However, our message that we all share is the same: That Jesus Christ performed the Atonement for ALL of God's children. It doesn't matter who you are, where you come from, or what you currently believe. You have been invited to feel the love of Jesus Christ even more in your life, and when we come over to your home, we invite that wonderful spirit to be in your home. We give all of God's children the chance to return to our Father in Heaven again. Show more Show less
