Hi I'm Benjamin Andersen

I gratuated high school last year. I'm an avid swimmer. I love spending time with my friends. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I just finished my first semester out at college and I loved it!! I'm an eagle scout and love being outdoors and hiking. I have been playing the cello since I was five years old and I love it!! I have played my cello in many concerts, recitals, and all over the Midwest. Two years ago I had the opportunity to travel to Carnegie Hall and perform their with some of my closest friends in a national high school competition. I have loved the cello and the opportunity to perform my whole life.

Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon because it makes me happy. I love being around people who are happy, and I love the opportunity to bring happiness to others. I have my struggles just like everyone else, but it is really awesome to be part of something that is focused on taking you from where you are, and lifting you higher and higher so that you can become the best you can be. I think that is what Jesus would do, and I think that is what all followers of Him do.

How I live my faith

Aldoux Huxley said that, "After silence, that which comes closest to expressing the inexpressible is music." I have found that to be true because music allows me to share the deepest desires of my heart. I can communicate with others in a way that words literally cannot describe. It's a deeper form of communication than normal words or body language. That is exactly how I feel when I am able to share with others my feelings about Jesus Christ, Joseph Smith, and this church. I feel like I'm trying to describe something that is so amazing that I don't have the words to express it--just like music. To me my faith in music, and my faith in this gospel are things that lift me up and help me become the best I can be, and I know that is what my Father who is in Heaven wants for me.

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

We want to be happy!!!! I think we lose sight of what true happiness is and where it comes from, and so we look at our lives as unhappy experiences, but at the end of the day, Heavenly Father wants us to be happy! He has told us that the best, most longlasting, and wholesome way to pursue happiness is through hard work, loving all those around us, and having families, but mostly getting to know and love His Son Jesus Christ. We are gonna have things that we do wrong, but that's part of learning. These 'life lessons' shouldn't get us down on our luck because Jesus Christ came here and performed an Atonement that lets us mess up, learn from it, and move on. This process is called repentance, and through repentance we can look at the past and say, "Well I'm not gonna do that again cause that wasn't very smart, but I'm good now, and moving forward it's gonna be awesome!" That process of messing up, repenting, and moving on is how we become happy in our lives, and that is what Heavenly Father wants for us. Show more Show less
