Hi I'm Kate

I am the youngest of three born to two wonderful parents. Born and raised in the gospel.

About Me

I am 21 years old, currently going to Salt Lake Community College to study ASL (American Sign Language) to become an interpreter of the deaf. I was born and raised in Lehi Utah, and have lived here my whole life. I am the youngest of three, my sister is 27, my brother is 23. My parents are two of the most amazing people I have ever known and certainly the strongest, especially my mother.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I was born into an LDS family and raised by wonderful parents my life has been far from perfect. I have met a few people who seem to think that my life is bliss when compared to their lives, and when they mention that I always think "the only difference between us is that I am LDS and you are not". I look at the lives of the people around me at school and at work and the issues in their lives, and although I have been through rough times myself I realize that the only real difference between my outlook on things and theirs is the truth, the gospel of Jesus Christ. I do not believe because my parents believe, but because I have had experiences of my own, experiences that have shown the Saviors love for me so strongly that I just can't deny him. I have been pushed to my breaking point many times and have been broken at least once, but I have never denied that the things I have been taught since primary are true. I am a child of God, and he loves me and wants me to return home to him someday, and that is why I am Mormon; because I have learned for myself.

How I live my faith

I am a teacher in the Primary with the most wonderful 4-5 year olds I have ever met. I teach them about Jesus Christ and help them learn about the gospel. I have to be honest though, there are many MANY times that I learn more from them than I think they learn from me. They are so wonderful and so very spiritual.

What do Mormons believe about the Holy Ghost? Who is the Holy Ghost?

The Holy Ghost is given to those who are baptized and worthy to have him as their companion. He is a gentle yet strong feeling you get at various times. He's there to warn you when you're somewhere you probably shouldn't be, or doing something you know you shouldn't be doing. He's there to comfort you when you feel like life is unfair or you are feeling overwhelmed. The only time he isn't there is when you reject him, push him away, or just plain don't care about him or the Lord. Once you've had the Holy Ghost, you can immediately tell when he leaves, and its not a good feeling, at all. The Holy Ghost is very important in our lives. With out him I know I would be lost in life, not sure what to do or how to act at times. But I rely on his promptings to get me through each day. All you have to do is open your heart and listen. Its just that simple really. Show more Show less

Who chooses the Mormon prophet?

The Lord chooses the Prophet, and we as members sustain him and agree to follow his words. Because the things the Prophet tells us aren't really HIS words, but Gods words. Therefore, when we follow the words of the Prophet we are also following Heavenly Father. Show more Show less

Are Mormons Christians?

What do Mormons believe about “eternal life?”

Eternal life is what we are striving towards while we are here on Earth. If we do the things the Lord has commanded us and "endure to the end", remaining faithful to him, then we will get to live with him again some day. We will get to go home, and that is something worth striving for. Show more Show less

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

There are many people who will tell you that science is the answer to all the things God created, but even science is not that precise in everything, nor is it perfect. Only God could have created everything so perfectly that if there were even a sliver of a difference it would cease to exist. The earth was created and put in just the right place that if it were even an inch closer to the sun it would burn up, so how could a "big bang" create such a perfect environment for life. It can't because it didn't. The Lord created everything, and he created us, we are his children and he has made everything for our use because he loves us. Show more Show less

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Something I have come to rely on is prayer. I know the Lord hears and answers my prayers because when I pray to him and really take the time to listen I can feel his love for me. I have found that when I pray sincerely I feel much better about my situation and no longer feel weighed down by the stress and worry that I had before praying. I have come to know my Father in Heaven through faith and prayer, and I know he loves me. If you want to know for yourself, then you have to pray and study for yourself. You cannot rely on the experiences and testimonies of others to get you through this life. You must learn for yourself and get to know your Heavenly Father, depend on him, trust in him and know that he loves you. If you're looking for answers then read your scriptures, and if you need someone to talk to about your worries and sorrows then pray to him. He will answer you and he will listen because he does care and he will never abandon you. Show more Show less
