Hi I'm Steve

I come from a divorced family. I'm a business student. I am a new husband and father. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi! I am a husband, almost a dad, and a business student trying to find my place where I can support my young family. I enjoy quality time with my wife and brothers and sisters. My parents were divorced when I was in high school, but I have seen how diligence in keeping the commandments of God can make any sad situation better.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon firstly because of the way I feel when I go to Church. I get a fulfilling feeling whenever I listen to the teachings of the Gospel of Jesus Christ from my leaders and peers. But secondly, I am a Mormon because God has told me that this is the right place to raise my family and grow as His child. Through careful reading of the holy scriptures, I have found that the doctrines taught in this Church are the most equivalent to the doctrines taught by Christ when He walked on the Earth. We are taught that through God's power our families can be together even in heaven. Death will not separate me from my wife and best friend and that is such a blessing to me. I could not imagine heaven if Katelyn was no longer my wife. The fact that the Church puts so much emphasis on creating strong families is what lets me know that God will provide a way to make it through difficult times as a family if we are true to His teachings. The love and support I felt from other members of the Church during my most difficult times gave me a sense of the love of Christ here on Earth. When my parents were going through their divorce, I didn't know quite where God was or what was going to happen to my life. I imagined that it would be completely turned upside down and never be the same. The thing that neighbors and friends in the Church helped me realize was that when the world is ever changing, God is always the same. That feeling of consistency was what I needed to get my head straight. I learned that I had a Father in Heaven looking after me, and He would never leave me without the resources to make it through my tough times. This also helped me to create a deeper relationship with my mom and dad here on Earth.

How I live my faith

I love to serve within the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Each of us as members are responsible for sharing with nonmembers why we love what we know. We call this missionary work and I am the mission leader. Our mission is to invite all people to come unto Christ. I meet with people who want to know more about the Church, work with the young men who wear the name tags (we call them full-time missionaries), and help people who struggle with their faith in the Church or Jesus Christ. I really enjoy my role in the Church because it allows me to get to know people on a really personal level. I am able to make true friends and then help them take the necessary steps to renew their relationship with Christ. I spent two years doing this job full-time in São Paulo, Brazil. Most of the great habits I have in my life such as daily scripture reading, saying prayers throughout the day, putting my needs behind the needs of those I love the most, and working hard to be deserving of God's blessings, are results from my being a missionary.
