Hi I'm Robert

I've always wanted to be a Mormon. It was a long, worthwhile journey. Mormonism is who I am.

About Me

I'm a college graduate trying to figure out what to do in life. When not thinking about my future, I love reading books (especially Mormon works) and watching movies. I would love to one day direct a film and write a novel. I'm a romantic, a poet by nature. A recent convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints, I'm working my way to becoming a disciple of Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

From my earliest memories, I knew I desired to marry a Mormon for eternity, which meant I must be Mormon. But I didn't become Mormon for any person or childhood yearning. I converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because the story of Joseph Smith, Jr., and the Book of Mormon came to me as a grace. They came unexpectedly into my life as a whisper saving me from falling into absolute despair. I didn't earn knowing for myself the truthfulness of an ancient text or modern-day prophets, but I work diligently to maintain what I now have. I am Mormon because nothing is more beautiful. In the words of Alma, Mormonism "beginneth to enlarge my soul; yea, it beginneth to enlighten my understanding, yea, it beginneth to be delicious to me." The gospel has given me life anew. It is a piercing of the heart, mind, soul, and strength. I am Mormon because I cannot deny it; I could be nothing else.

How I live my faith

My faith is lived through struggle: a struggle to stay in the church, a struggle to know and love my Heavenly Father and Mother, a struggle to pray always, a struggle to be perfected in Christ. I am thankful for my struggles and doubts. They help me learn and feel deeper about God, faith, and companionship. If I am ever to be like Jesus or God, I look towards D&C 93:13, "And he received not of the fulness at first, but continued from grace to grace, until he received a fulness". My struggles are the grace by which I can be perfected in Christ. I'm an 13th article of faith Mormon who relies upon D&C 88:118. Not only do I study Mormonism in depth, but I study world religions and theology broadly. Reading as many variant copies of Mormon scriptures, and all other good books I can obtain, helps me seek after the best learning the world and God has to give. I attend church regularly and strive ever to be better to my fellow man. To keep involved in the church, I attend institute classes and a Book of Mormon reading group weekly.
