Hi I'm Leah

I'm a young single mom. Love to travel, dance and meet people! I'm a Mormon :)

About Me

I have always been pretty independent and gone after what I want. I thought I knew it all and wound up pregnant at age 15! I was not raised in the church but luckily I had a very loving and giving mother who has helped me so much with everything. She helped me with the responsibility of my daughter that way I could work and finish high school and continue to teach and perform dance. At the age of 19 I took off on my own and explored Oregon where I fell in love with rivers and trees. I managed to end up in Arizona and am somewhat settled and getting back into College to further my education in either Elementary Special Ed or Public Relations. I joined the church June 19th 2012 and it has been the best decision of my life! I have never had such a strong relationship with God and with myself. People describe me as, giving, caring, motherly, weird and loud :) I absolutely LOVE going to Concerts of all kinds but mainly rock and I love to travel to new places and meet the locals. I am secretly a geek and love the computer and tearing things apart and rebuilding them and understanding how anything and everything works.

Why I am a Mormon

I knew a few Mormons a couple of years ago and I didn't know much about the religion other than the crazy things I had heard growing up. One thing I did know was that they were definitely good people, very humble and nice and giving and genuine, also not lazy. So I knew the things I heard probably weren't true. When I hit rock bottom I knew I needed to be around good people and needed to rekindle my relationship with God, so I reached out to the missionaries. I called and had them come to my house. You can imagine they were pretty happy to come teach me because it is rare when an investigator calls and asks for them instead of them knocking on my door. At first I got baptized and joined the church because of the people. I felt loved and needed and appreciated. But then after a while of continuously reading my scriptures and praying, I realized that this really was the True Church of Jesus Christ! I knew it because I prayed and asked God to show me proof that this was his church, and sure enough I had answer after answer. The true gospel has helped me understand my purpose in life and helped me push through addictions and other past transgressions. I have learned to be more Christ Like and love everyone and forgive and humble myself. I see now that all of our journey's are different but similar. Although our trials may differ, the emotions and love from our Heavenly Father is the same and we are never alone. I love the gospel of Jesus Christ and I hope that people become less scared to go after true happiness and not settle for temporary happiness.

How I live my faith

Only three months after being baptized I was called to be a Ward Missionary. It has been the most amazing experience to be able to work with the Elders and go to lessons and knock on doors to share the word of God. I am very much a people person and can relate to most people so I enjoy getting to know them personally and figuring out ways I can help. Teaching lessons to investigators and doing new member lessons with new members has really helped me have a strong understanding of the Plan of Salvation and my purpose here on Earth! I have learned how to keep the Holy Spirit with me so I can turn to him when I need and I have also learned how easy it is to drift away from our Heavenly Father. Most people assume it's too late or its too much work to do the right thing or reach out for help when needed. But I have learned in this past year how much my Heavenly Father loves me and does not expect me to be perfect. I go through phases where sometimes I am diligently reading scriptures and praying and other times I am just doing the bare minimum. My testimony and spirit is definitely stronger and HAPPIER when I am praying and reading my scriptures everyday. I love the Gospel and I love my Heavenly Father and it is my prayer that I can meet and help whoever may need it, because I know when I need love and help he has definitely sent his messengers.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Leah
Yes, I truly believe there is a prophet just like Moses today. I feel that the proof is all around us and most people that believe in the bible all know that the second coming is near. I believe it is essential for God's people to follow a prophet at this point before the second coming to help guide us so we can know we are doing what we need to be doing to prepare.
