Hi I'm Josh Hetherton

I am the 2nd of 4 children. I love running, music and motor racing. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to run! I have completed 2 full marathons and one half and intend to do more races in the future. I enjoy running and listening to music as it helps me to feel free, its a good time to think and clear my mind. One of my favorite things to do is watch sport especially motor racing. I love Formula 1 for the technology, speed and challenge it gives the drivers. Listening to music is a big part of my life, I love anything from Pop to Rock, Alternative to RnB. I can never listen to enough! I love finding new artists and their different sounds.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents converted to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in their late teens, so me, my sister and brothers grew up learning and going to church. In our faith we believe that one of the main purposes in this life is to become like our Father in Heaven, through the earthly experiences we have this is possible. Because of this divine purpose in our being here, and our divine potential as children of God I feel its important to take responsibility for my own actions and faith. I know that I am not just something that happened by chance, although our being here is miraculous, it is what Heavenly Father intended for us all. Knowing that, I can imagine the potential that He sees in me and that gives me the drive and vision to want to become like Him and our Savior, Jesus Christ. Because I know that my life will not end with death I know that everything I do and who I become will be determined by what I do here in this life; it gives my decisions and life that much more substance and meaning. Most of all I am a Mormon not because my parents told me I have to be, because I feel obligated to follow in their footsteps, or because I am looking for something to make me feel empowered. It is because I have felt the influence of the Holy Ghost (God's messenger to us) in my life. He has brought the peaceful and reassuring feelings into my heart that this is truly the Church of Jesus Christ and despite all of the distractions, sadness and disasters happening around me that is a comfort to me. It is true! There not many things in our lives we can depend on no matter what but the gospel of Jesus Christ is always a refuge and strength for me. Because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ we can all be clean from the mistakes and sins we commit, we all make mistakes! The atonement is so wonderful because it can also change our very hearts and natures to be better what an amazing gift.

How I live my faith

I am a leader in the Youth program of our Church, this involves teaching and being there for any questions they might need. We also have an activity night during the week where we play sports or games together, its great fun! I love to study the teachings of living prophets and apostles, every year we have 2 worldwide General Conferences of the Church this is a great opportunity to learn about what God wants me to do now. The people that speak address matters that are for us specifically and that is a great blessing. The Church has a study app and I love to mark and tag subjects on my iPad, it helps me to organize and find the things that I study. One of the greatest things I have learned about is the power of prayer, through spending time speaking to my Father in Heaven I have felt closer to Him and I feel like we have a strong relationship through which I can find the help and strength in my life. I know that life is not easy and many things do not work out as we plan but if we trust in God and ask Him for help, He can bless us with peace and reassurance.
