Hi I'm Dallin Whitaker

I´m a full-time missionary in Chile. I am happy. And I´m a Mormon.

About Me

As a full-time missionary I am always sharing the gospel through actions as well as words, but I also have many hobbies and interests that are dying hard. :) I LOVE playing sports. I played volleyball in high school on a club team and I also play a lot of basketball with other missionaries when we have a little spare time. I wakeboard in the summer, snowboard in the winter and I enjoy formal speedwalking year round. #missionarywork However, some of the best experiences that I have ever had come from acting and singing in musicals and plays. The people that I have met, the roles that I have played, the things that I have done in theatre, have all helped me to become the person and missionary that I am today. I had the incredible opportunity of portraying the character of Jean Valjean in Les Miserables for a youth community theatre production and I also have played many other roles in a variety of plays such as Cinderella, Seussical, and Fiddler on the Roof. As far as working goes, I worked for 2 years at the good ol´ McDonald´s to help me pay for school and my mission. The marvelous thing is that I can still eat there without worrying about how the food was prepared. Before becoming a missionary, I was also able to get 2 semesters of schooling done at Brigham Young University. I was studying Chemical Engineering and I hope to continue upon my return home. But the most important thing is that I am me because that is who I want to be. :) (I´m a poet and I didn´t even know it)

Why I am a Mormon

For me, the most important part of my life, my faith and the way that they come together is being happy. I am happy because of my faith in Jesus Christ. It is as simple as that. I am a Mormon because I am happier when I know that God loves me and that I have a purpose here on this Earth. It is a kind of happiness and peace that cannot be taken away no matter the obstacles or trials that I face. This peace and joy lasts longer than any other momentary pleasure or monetary measure. It is what I look for in life and what I have found in the gospel. I am a Mormon because I know God wants me to be. I have received this knowledge through earnest prayer and study of the scriptures and that same confirmation is available for everyone, member or no, through the power of the Holy Ghost. I am a missionary because I want to share this knowledge with others and give them the opportunity to know it for themselves. I play sports. I am happy. and I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

My faith is much more than a belief. It is who I am. I live my faith by talking to everyone about the gospel of Jesus Christ and the importance of the plan that God has set out for us. Even before being a missionary I was able to live my faith through daily prayer, scripture study and weekly church attendance. I have experienced the power of repentance as I have relied on Christ´s atonement to make up for my faults, misdeeds and imperfections. I live my faith by striving each day to become a better person than I was yesterday. One of life´s sweetest joys is being able to watch change occur in oneself and in others as we gain understanding and act upon it. While still a missionary, I get to watch these changes in so many people as well as myself as I teach people from all walks of life about the Atonement of Jesus Christ.
