Hi I'm Jessica

I grew up in Utah. I was college student and a nanny. Now I'm a missionary in the Philippines. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in sunny Southern Utah. I love the outdoors and spending time with my family. I finished my first year of college and I loved my job as a nanny. I'm an only child and the daughter of a retired Army Veteran. I was raised LDS and am happily serving as a full-time missionary in the Philippines Baguio mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in an inactive LDS home. While my dad was serving a deployment to Iraq, I made the decision that I would start going to church, even if it meant that I went alone. It was at that point in my life that the sweetness of the Gospel became the most important part of me. I was able to gain and build a testimony of our loving Savior which has only continued to increase as I've grown. I love this life and plan that our wonderful Heavenly Father has created just for us. I know that he knows us individually and is aware of our needs, our triumphs, our goals, everything. I know that it is only through His divine love and the sacrifice of our elder brother Jesus Christ that we can return to Him. This Gospel is true, I know it. And I invite you to know it as well. :)

How I live my faith

Growing up I was actively involved in many service groups, my favorites were the groups that supported military families. In the LDS church I have had many callings, or service positions that have only strengthened my desire to be more like our Savior Jesus Christ. Being able to plan youth activities and trips, organize the Sunday music and serve in Young Adult leadership positions has helped me become who I am striving to be.

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

At the core of the Church is the family. The father's divine role is to righteously hold and use the priesthood for the benefit of his family and others who may need the blessings that come from it. The mother's divine role is to bear and raise children with the nurturing and love only a mother can possess. Both roles are equal and essential in the Great Plan of Happiness that God has created. In the church, priesthood callings are held by men, because they hold the priesthood. That is their duty. At the same time women hold equal callings where their diving potential as nuturers can be applied. The amazing abilities of women are utilized in Relief Society, Young Women's and Primary. These organizations were made to use the strengths of the sisters in the church, the same way Priesthood programs use the strengths of the men. Men and Women are equal and necessary partners, each with their divine roles that the other cannot fill. Show more Show less
