Hi I'm Ivette Leal

I love to dance. I am a student. I thoroughly enjoy music. I love to laugh and I love being Mormon

About Me

I have lived in Utah for 86% of my life and I love it. My parents are both Mexican and I have thoroughly enjoyed being raised in that culture. I am the third of four daughters and it is so much fun! I am obsessed with dancing. I have experienced so many types of dancing, but my favorites are Salsa, Hip-Hop and Folkloric Mexican dancing. I enjoy playing volleyball, swimming and running. I had the marvelous opportunity to study at the LDS Boarding school in Mexico, Benemerito de las Americas, which has now been turned into an Missionary Training Center for the church. It was a beautiful experience and I know that I grew spiritually and as a person when I was at that school. I have now finished my freshman year at BYU and am now looking forward to serving an LDS mission in Chicago Illinois.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that this gospel is true. Maybe when I was younger, I went to church just because it was something my parents did and it was fun. Now that I am older, I have acquired my own testimony. I had been reading the Book of Mormon, because at church my leaders had been telling me that if I read it and then prayed about it, I would receive an answer that it was true. I wanted to know what that felt like. As I began to pray to know if the Book of Mormon was true, I began to seriously doubt anything was going to happen. Then it was like I ran into a wall of peace and joy. I had this overwhelming feeling that left no room for doubt. This was truth! The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. It testifies of Him, and the love of our Father in Heaven. I felt that infinite love as knelt in my room that night. He knows us ALL and he will answer your prayers. I've read the Book of Mormon, accepted the challenge to ask God if the things I have read are true and received a powerful answer. Anybody can receive that answer. I know that our Heavenly Father wants us to be happy. I can feel it and I know that if we are faithful to the commandments he has given us, we can be happy for eternity. I know that Jesus Christ made it possible for us to be able to have that happiness and am forever grateful to Him. He lives! This is something that I want to share and I am so grateful for the opportunity I have to serve a mission to bring this happiness to everyone I meet!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being the best I can be. An area that I focus on is being kind to the people around me. We have the knowledge that we are all spirit sons and daughters of our Heavenly Father. This makes us all children of God, no matter what. I try to treat everyone with respect and love. It isn't as easy as it seems, and I know it by personal experience. But I know that it makes it easier to have the thought that God loves that person as much as He loves you. He wants them to have the same happiness as you do. I live my faith by going out of my way to open the door or pick up a dropped item, a simple smile or hello, a small act of kindness or service can go a long way to help a child of God and brighten their day. I live my faith by trying to reach out to those in need or listening to how a persons day went. I live my faith by trying to be a good example to those around me.
